  1. Our garden is mostly flowering plants and groundcover. We did away with lawn years ago (and the lawn mower). There's a thriving clump of cactus we started from a single pad (a gift from and a reminder of an old friend). I augment the already giant patch of Black-eyed Susans with a few new plants every year; the gold finches love them once they bloom later in the summer. There's a tiny pond just off the tiny deck, off of our tiny house, populated by goldfish and the local frogs, and occasionally a turtle will show up. There are three or four water lilies in there that will bloom all summer
  2. I've seen: Williamsburg VA April 2006 Wolf Trap 2008? (sadly, no ticket stubs) Wolf Trap 2009 Solid Sound 2010 Strathmore 2010 (Jeff at Lincoln Theatre 2010) Solid Sound 2011 Merriweather 2011 So that makes Tampa #8 and Wolf Trap night 2 #9 I'm thinking about Charlottesville and Wolf Trap night 1. I may just jump in the car by myself last minute....
  3. Got 4 for Wolf Trap night #2. Row N toward Nels' side.
  4. It's official - two nights @ Wolf Trap! And, yes, they did sell out the Filene Center in 2009. Tuesday & Wednesday, July 17 & 18 at 8 pm at the Filene Center Ticket Price: $45 in-house, $35 lawn Wilco Special Guest: Lee Ranaldo Band (of Sonic Youth)
  5. WRNR deejay just mentioned that we should "expect two nights" of Wilco at Wolf Trap this summer. Nothing on Wolf Trap schedule yet, though.
  6. I read Danny Miller's Jew Eat Yet once in a while. Besides the Wilco connection, I like his take on the entertainment industry and his encyclopedic knowledge of movies. Good stuff. http://dannymiller.typepad.com/
  7. First try at exactly 10AM. Center seats. I almost dumped them thinking that they were much further back and I might do better on second try. D'oh!
  8. Tampa CC!!!!!!!! Mother's Day present to myself.
  9. A good friend of mine put this site together; it's an encyclopedic collection of all things Rush. www.rushvault.com Enjoy.
  10. We have had a turtle for nearly five years now. He's an Easern Box Turtle my daughter adopted via a local rescue group. He was one of a group turtles that someone was hoarding; he has only three claws (victim of a lawn mower hit-and-run apparently), and can't be released into the wild. We've had gerbils and fish, too, and by far, Turtelini is the easiest to deal with, least expensive to feed, and probably the most intelligent. Plus, he hibernates from December to March, so we all get a break. He loves roasted sweet potatoes (who doesn't?) and earthworm, slugs, or anything else he can dig
  11. Sometime last week, www.solidsoundfestival.com removed all content related to SSF 2011. Only an email sign-up remains. Signs of life?
  12. Outtasite (Outta Mind) at Sports Authority in Alexandria, Virginia yesterday afternoon!
  13. Many years ago, my best friend from college began dating my next door neighbor. Turns out, he had grown up in Belleville and remembered riding the school bus with Jeff. He lent me his copy of AM. Neighbor moved. Took best friend with him. Still have CD.
  14. We're in FL still catching up with family, estranged fathers, ex-mothers-in-law, rambunctious nephews. Looking forward to returning home for New Year's Eve and some peace on earth. Best wishes, Donna (and all VCers) for 2012.
  15. Kinda interesting that Lagunitas is a "partner" at SS2....
  16. I took the train last year. The closest Amtrak station is Albany-Rensselaer, about 40 miles west of MassMOCA. You can take a cab across the river and rent a car in town. There's supposed to be a car rental agency at the Amtrak station, but they have limited hours and seemed deserted last year. Correction: The Pittsfield Amtrak station is closer to North Adams, but it's a 7 hour trip from NYC to Pittsfield via Amtrak. NYC to Albany is only about 2 1/2.
  17. True. btw, the contestant RJ was talking to is here: http://new.music.yahoo.com/blogs/realityrocks/422399/idol-paul-mcdonaldhis-amazing-technicolor-dreamsuit/ threads collide.
  18. I'm not sure either. But what does it mean that Randy Jackson just mentioned Wilco on American Idol?
  19. Thanks, everyone for your suggestions! The Route 1 trip sounds like a winner... You had me at "Noank"
  20. It was tough leaving Massachusetts after the festival last year and heading right back to work. This year, I wised up and planned for a few extra days to explore New England. Does anyone have any suggestions for a Mon/Tues/Wed roadtrip from North Adams? Need to be in Albany in time for the flight home Wednesday afternoon. Thinking copious amounts of lobster roll...
  21. Breakfast would be fun - I'll have to do some heavy reading to prepare (if you know what I mean). Tim's a trip! I would have liked to stay there again, but the house was booked solid weeks ago. Glad you like the poster. "Hi" to Allison
  22. Beth here. We stayed at the House on Main Street last year. Weren't able to book there again, but we found a place nearby.
  23. Hi, Dude. Met you at the first SSF. I was able to get a pair of the "Return Trip" tickets - signed in to the ticketing site at 10:25 and probably just got lucky. Can't wait for June!
