  1. Yay on the videos! It was great seeing everybody, this was my fourth show in three weeks, so many great memories. Even the loud talker (he was more a yeller) couldn't spoil this one. Next time, I think I'm going to avoid the unruly balcony as well, there's no only so many times I can deal with some a**hole behind me screaming "JEBSZUZ ETSHETTERA!" *Admin note: Videotaping is not allowed by the band.
  2. I was going to call you during Gun but I figured you were sleeping. Simple Twist of Fate was one of the highlights for me, We've Been Had (dusted off a little) sounded great, as did the acoustic Hate it Here.
  3. Love those pics... thanks for posting everyone... This should bring a smile to everyone's face who did this a while back:
  4. Or maybe he's acting like this guy:
  5. No problem, it beat doing actual work at the office.
  6. Yeah, exactly. If this was real, and if Affleck had real qualms about the sanity of his brother-in-law, he wouldn't hire an expensive film crew to follow him around, or line up producers who would willingly foot the bill for such a production. It's way too big of a risk and in Hollywood, I doubt anyone is willing to take such gambles in these uncertain times. Would you film a movie about your brother-in-law if you thought he was on drugs or delusional? Affleck has been nominated for an Oscar, he actually has somewhat of a career that he could piss away by agreeing to this (assuming it was a
  7. I think the Borat-style release forms and the "day-to-day life" aspect of the film further point to this being a hoax-umentary. I hope the finished product is entertaining... http://www.nydailynews.com/gossip/2009/02/...in_phoenix.html Joaquin Phoenix is still setting tongues wagging with his bizarre behavior. The former hottie turned a screening of his new film,
  8. Here's a VNC Server for Mac OSes that aren't preloaded with it (I think 10.4 - Tiger is): http://www.freemacware.com/osxvnc/
  9. I use TightVNC a ton as well as Log Me In Free at http://www.logmein.com/, for free one-on-one desktop sharing across the 'net without worrying about port forwarding or opening ports on firewalls. I'm not sure if it has any many-to-one sharing abilities, but the LogMeIn software is excellent for basic desktop sharing and much faster than LiveMeeting and some of the others.
  10. He was also extremely paranoid that people at Comedy Central had tapped his phones and were somehow out to 'get' him or somesuch. He has some major conspiracy thing going on.
  11. I don't know. A celeb giving up an entire career at the top of his game, losing his mind and completely going off the deep end just doesn't seem likely to me...
  12. True... Revolver I would argue is competition between two or three songwriters trying to outdo the other, but you raise a great point... I thought of other examples after I posted this, including Bruce Springsteen's entire catalog - I don't really see him having major conflicts with the E Street Band guys, but who knows. There's also a lot of great albums (i.e. Plastic Ono Band, Tonight's the Night, Pink Moon) that are more individuals going through internal struggles versus external. No matter what the source of motivation, I just hope there are some surprises on this new album, and that
  13. Shrek: Nels is like an onion. Donkey: He stinks? Shrek: Yes. No. Donkey: Oh, he makes you cry. Shrek: No. Donkey: Oh, you leave him out in the sun, he'll get all brown, start sproutin' little white hairs. Shrek: NO. Layers. Onions have layers. Nels has layers. Onions have layers. You get it? They both have layers. [sighs] Donkey: Oh, you both have layers. Oh. You know, not everybody like onions.
  14. More evidence this is probably a joke and that Letterman is in on it, from Wiki: On June 5, 1997, Farah Fawcett received some negative commentary after giving a less-than-coherent interview on The Late Show with David Letterman. It was speculated that her rambling, incoherent manner was the result of drug abuse. Months later, she explained on The Howard Stern Show that her rambling was in fact just her way of joking around with the television host. She also insisted that what appeared to be random looks across the theater was just her looking and reacting to the fans in the audience. She poi
  15. I think he's filming a Borat - style pic, with himself as the central character, that will examine celebrity and the media's reactions to his meltdown. Casey Affleck is also producing it and "in" on the joke. I think his stoned-out Joaquin persona allows him to fuck with people's heads for 6 months or so.
  16. Can great albums only arise from conflict? Some of my favorite albums (YHF, London Calling, the White Album) were rife with conflicts and tension... or at least some kind of creative rivalry of relatively equal footing (Lennon vs. Macca, Strummer vs. Jones, Jagger vs. Richards, Louris vs. Olson, etc.). I almost half-hope there are arguments between Tweedy and Sansone on what keyboard part will end up on the album, and that results in something fractured, tense and exciting musically, but that seems highly unlikely. Maybe these guys love each other TOO much...
  17. Here are the resolutions on NTSC standard DVDs: At 29.97 or 23.976 fps (usually used in regions where NTSC is standard): 720
  18. Yeah, he said a whole step. I sort of can feel Jeff's pain on this, as I've tuned my guitars down a half / whole step or put them in strange tunings a lot, and the looser the strings are on the fretboard, the harder it is to lock them down to a tuning that will stick for any length of time. Jeff always seems endearingly self-effacing at these things, apologizing on the guitar tunings and the occasional lyric misstep. Surely he realizes that he could sing the entire set in Swahili, playing a ukelele, and we'd all still be pretty happy.
  19. The Total Pros were in Nashville, I very much remember them on Hate it Here, Walken and ITMWLY.
  20. This raises hopes Wilco will release a song called For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge.
  21. If you can't read this guitar pick, you're too damn close. Is it a guitar pick or a new kind of cold sore balm?
