I've heard Idlewild Blues, Morris Brown and Mighty O. I like all of them and will give the album a listen shortly. I actually bought Stankonia today, and on first listen it seems pretty amazing.

Like Kyle said, as far as mainstram pop goes, I think all the singles from the latest record have been pretty great.

I enjoy Kelly Clarkson's music more than plenty of the artists diefied on this board. (Pink Floyd anyone?)

^^^ as do I, but I think it's time for a more rock-oriented outing from Ryan. RNR rules.

Though I'm sure you mean this as a joke, I wouldn't be completely opposed to Wilco doing a song or two with the Neptunes or Kanye West; they've made some damn fine albums in the past 5 years.

So now that I'm in college, I've decided to somewhat pursue my musical dreams. But after reading some articles about making press kits/sending things to labels, I'm a little daunted. So I was wondering if any VC musicians could 1) point me towards some good sights that will tell me how to make a good press kit, and 2)let me know of some labels that will possibly listen to stuff sent to them. Anything and everything is appriciated. Thanks.

On a similar note, I heard Huey Lewis' Power of Love today, and I was reminded that's it's a KICKASS song. That is all.

While I enjoy the last two records, I find them overated, too. They're a good pop band.

At the end of the day, that cd is a masterpiece.

Early Rarities, Live Clips Highlight R.E.M. CD/DVD

I've been a fan for three years but a fanatic for almost two (essentially right after they stopped touring the US for Around the Sun.) I'll almost certainly see them the next tour, but I am forever jealous of those who saw them during their first decade. -

If they toured behind this and only played songs from the IRS years, I think I would go to every show within a 5 hour distance. And I would cry. -
So I decided to give New Adventures another spin, and it was pretty awesome. I don't love it, but I like it, and that is unexpected to say the least. Latest on a new album is that theyre talking about getting back together in the fall or winter. I'm sure we have a while, but if it results in something better than the absurdly insipid Around The Sun, I'll wait.

Disc one wins by, like, a billion.

man, all this love for new adventures! i bought it for 3 dollars used, and after listening to it twice I couldn't find anything great songs! What am I doing wrong?

I'm with LouieB on this one: 1. Murmur 2. Reckoning 3. Automatic For The People Besides being my 3 fav R.E.M. albums, each is in my top 40 fav albums of all time.

Your not alone, among some Weezer fans at least, in your thinking. About 90% of the A4 demos that didn't end up on the album, however, I thought were horrible.

I discovered Weezer with The Green Album. I randomly bought the week it came out, and I was in 8th grade. I loved it and still do - for what it is. I guess since I didn't know of TBA and Pink I was able to apprciate the pretty impressive pop-craftmanship seen in every song; to me, it''s sounds as if it's written by someone who knew exactly what they were doing. That being said, if I was viewing TGA as a followup to Pink (which today ranks in my top ten all time), I'd probably be pissed. I think alot of Maladroit--musically, at least--is pretty great. Songs like Dope Nose, Keep Fishin, Slave,

IMO, Earlwine is EASILY the most unbaised, thoughtful reviewer out there. Every one dislikes a few artists that they, according to hipsters, reviewers, etc., should like, but all his reviews--weather they're pos or neg--are backed up with myriad reasons. Even with the Bright Eyes albums, albums which I like, he, for the most part, criticizes the music. Additionally, read all the reviews he's done: he PRAISES ppl like Rick Springfield, Shakira, Toby Ketih just as much as he does Gastr Del Soul, Bob Dylan, etc. All told, I just think he's the man. (And I ttly agree with the Sufjan article; but a

0-3 on the new songs for me. but I'm not juding till the record comes.

I agree with you, AWATT: I can think of too many more imporant pure pop records. It's probably in my top 10, and I listen to it more than any Beatles record (at present, at least). On the other hand, I thought the Smile issued in 2004 was perhaps the stupidest sounding recording I've ever heard. How's that for contrast.
