  7. I was in elementary school during the Nevermind/Grunge era and only got the 3 years ago. So I never expected the album to change my life. And it didn't. But I do think it's a sharply written punk-pop record that I still enjoy every once in a while.
  8. I bought this on a whim yesterday. Mainly because of the title and Newbury Comic's tantalizingly low price. And I think it's awesome. The first half is pretty flawless to my ears. Any one else dig this and/or have any other reccomendations?
  9. I listened to Quad twice last night. It's pretty amazing. It's too long, but there aren't any bad songs. I'd get to Tommy soon.
  10. I've never been a big Who fan, but I told a friend I'd give these two rock operas a fair listen. What is the current opinion on these two works, with people who grew up with them or younger people? Just curious.
  11. I've always given his albums a fair listen, and I've always been dissapointed by their mediocrity. But, for the time being at least, I really like Continuum. It's beautiful and mature.
  12. While this may be hyperbole, I would go so far as to say that The Black Album, The Blueprint and Reasonable Doubt are all masterpieces, and each genre and even decade defining in their own way. That being said, at this point at least, I would say The Blueprint is my fav.
  13. This is without a doubt my most anticipated record of 2006. The Black Album was/is a mastepiece. This one better be, too.
  14. Well, i'm not gonna lie, I borrowed the new Justin Timberlake and John Mayer records from friends yesterday. And I thoroughly enjoy both of them, and I wouldnt say I'm a fan of either. So, I don't know, maybe give them a listen.
  15. Well, I was about to post Frank's "In The Wee Small Hours" and U2's "Achtung Baby," but I guess you guys are always two steps ahead...
  16. That looks likes it. I guess it wasn't much, but I like it just the same.
  17. I can only imagine. I was in 8th grade when it came out and was listening to mainly classic rock. Needless to say, I loathed it; it wasn't music. It took me about 2 1/2 years to "get it" but it's definitely a keeper.
  18. Yes, Stewart, it was someone on here. But it was also about two years ago, and i'm fairly certain it was just there opinion. I suppose Radiohead in general are mythical in some way, and Kid A is just mind boggling.
  19. I listened to Kid A for the first time in about a year last night. It was truely devine. Anyway, I remember a while someone proposed that the album was a concept album about ones life--beginning with his birth and ending with his suicide. If anyone has a more fleshed out thoery, or simply wants to discuss this album, one that, in my opinion, ranks in the top 5 of the decade, I'd be down.
  20. Does anyone know when SY will hit the stage in Boston tonight? Yes, I called the venue before posting.
  21. To get pretty off topic, does anyone know where I can see the U2 Ipod ad? I have never seen it and, well, would like to. EDIT: Did it myself. I think it's fairly obvious that ones like or disgust of the commerical depends on his or her opinion of the artist. That being said, I don't see what's wrong with any kind of advertising; afterall, it's a business, right?
  22. If anyone is feeling extra generous today, I'd love a PM, too.
  23. Am I the only one who likes Jay Z? I don't find him to be a guilty pleasure at all, despite his fame.
  24. This is the summer I've been getting into Rap/RB/Hip Hop. Frankly, it simply sounder fresher than the new rock stuff I've been listening to. I have Jay Z's The Blueprint and The Black Album, which are both tremendous. I just bought Outkast's Stankonia, which is so freaking wierd it's awesome. In addition, I have most of the Beastie Boys stuff, some Lauryn Hill/ Fugees and a little old school stuff. While I d
  25. What I love about Stankonia is that it's so freaking wierd, unpredictable and all over the place. With the new one, I'm digging the first 10 tracks, but the last 4 or 5 have been pretty normal...hoping it gets better during the last 10 tracks.
