  1. Same score same thought. Those midi files are really cheesy and somewhat hard to hear, at least the subtle differences are. Most are just different patterns and are pretty easy to differentiate, others seem too obvious and are designed to trick you. That so many scored high tells me this test is akin to those inet IQ tests where most people score 130+. If you live in the same world I do you know that isn't possible.

Why all the John Mayer hate? Sure he does some pop stuff but he is also one of the only promising guitarists to emerge in a long time. His stuff with JMT is tops and his band can't be beat, Pino Palladino and Steve Jordan are arguably the best rhythm section in music today.
  3. Since a replacement was named so quick is this a plan B move they had stashed for the occasion. I get the impression that had the election results been different Rummy wouldn't have stepped down. Kind of obvious I know but if that is what happened it's troubling that they weren't willing to do the right thing until after a public uprising. If anything it just proves the current admin isn't willing to do the right thing unless they are forced to. On the bright side it's mud in the eye of those who said a dem take over wouldn't have an effect. The new house hasn't even convened yet and there is
  4. Actually I thought it was great. Those that were throwing darts seemed to be saying "where is your arrogance and cocky talk now Mr. Bush".
  5. The news conference is turning into a roast.
  6. If you're referring to his news conference, yeah he looks freked out. Like he just got kicked in the jimmy. It's freakin' amazing that less than 24 hrs after the polls close Rummy bails. I really wasn't expecting this but I feel from watching President Bush on TV that he took the message the public sent yesterday to heart.
  7. Having connections at GC is a very cool thing. I have a friend that works at one of the GC's here, he gives me great deal on stuff. We have a weird used market here in Denver, gear is really cheap. Which is both good and bad. Good for finding deals but bad if you need to sell.
  8. I've only owned one Washburn and it was a 6 string, really nice guitar for the $$. I've had several Alvarez models, and demo'd bunches of them a few months back when I was in the market for a 6. By far they are they best guitars in the new $300-500 range. However used is another story. I was in the market for a 12 string and just picked up a killer Takamine 12 E\A for $350 with a hardcase. The guitar was actually new, still had the plastic protective coating on the pickguard. A guy bought it and the wide neck was too much for his arthritic hands. Anyway while I was looking there was no shortag
  9. The "Jimmy" guy nailed the look, the others not so much. There are some really good Zep tributes out there. Most of the real good ones are in the UK. I used to spend time just killing time looking at the bands over at http://www.tribute-band.com/. It's good for a laugh as well as finding some cool trib bands. I tried to start a Cream trib a few years back but I couldn't find others in my area that wanted to devote their free music time to only Cream.
  10. That was why I chose the KorgKLC1, it models vintage synths. It comes with a cool midi controller, even has a patch bay, but you'd need to tote a laptop around to use it live.
  11. I don't mind the chit-chat, even it was somewhat rehearsed. The playing, well that's how Jeff plays he isn't Tommy Emmanuel. The only thing the DVD didn't capture is the vibe and atmosphere of the actual shows, at least not the 3 shows that I attended. One thing that made the shows so cool was the way Jeff was lit. The weird up-lighting that made it seem "vintage", the actual shows felt like you could have been watching a performer from the 40's or 50's. It added to the experience IMO. The way it was filmed lost all that.
  12. It's pretty obvious the Rev is lying. You don't leave msgs about scoring drugs on someone's voice mail unless you know the person well.
  13. When I bought a synth I elected to buy a guitar synth, Roland GR-20, and use it to control the KorgKLC1 soft-synth. Since I don't play keys that great it worked for me. However I tried many traditional keyed synths and of all I like the modeling ones the best. The newer synths seemed to be geared towards dance and electronica stuff. I just wanted good old analog noise, the modelers handle that.
  14. I bought the WalMart version today and will likely grab the rest later. Which will make a total of four times that I've bought this stuff since I grabbed a bootleg box set of 8 DVD's last year from some guy at a vintage record show.
  15. Yep she is a great writer. This is right up there with Dylan. Actually it's kind of cool in a Silence Of The Lambs way, akin to "it rubs the lotion on it's skin or it gets the hose again".
  16. I can't get in to M5, it's just kind of blah. But I love Young Fresh Fellows, Kurt Bloch blows my mind.
  17. That said I've had enough of Nels, frankly his brand of noise making bores the crap out of me. He just sounds stiff to me. Others that are similar in style do it with more emotion than he does. That he seems to struggle with traditional playing freaks me out. He doesn't seem to be adept at the rootsy stuff, maybe adept isn't the right word. But for simple stuff he just sounds "stiff" to my ears. He could be a little less sterile. Maybe he needs a lesson from Paul Westerberg. He's a good player but it's not like he's Frank Zappa or something.
  18. Glenn freakin' rocks without a doubt. We all have favorites and I know I've heard more technical players but the way he does it, solo and with Wilco, makes me really like what he does. As a drummer my favorite ever is Josh Freese, he is amazing. Glen is great at what he does, he deserves a little praise .
  19. My thoughts and prayers to the extended Tweedy family. Jeff's music has helped me through many a hard time. I hope that he has music he can turn to to brighten his day, no matter how dark. In honor of his mom I'm off to grab my acoustic and play Please Tell My Brother in her honor.
  20. I think ST is the best Wilco has done.
  21. I sold it to buy another Strat, that I later sold. I have a core of gear I'll keep and various pieces that I swap or sell for other gear. I like to experiment with different stuff. I've been selling guitars to buy recording gear and instruments. Two weeks ago I sold a Strat to buy a guitar synth (Roland GR-20) and last week I sold my VOX AD50VT, Yamaha piano and some misc stuff to buy a drum set (Gretsch Catalina Club Jazz). The goal is to have enough gear to have a fully functional home studio. All I need is a decent mixer, some drum mics, acoustic amp and a keyboard\synth and I'll be do
  22. Here's a few pics of my stuff. 2004 70's classic Strat. Modded, TX Specials, trem-convertor, USA vintage bridge and tuners. Just bought this bass last night. Fender Jazz bass. It's the Geddy Lee model, I had sig models, but it played too good to pass up. Fender BXR100 amp. Takamine, Mustang bass, Strat, Mustang and Tele. Traynor YVC40, American Standard Strat and black filing cabinet :0. 50's Supro lap steel, tumbler of vodka and ginger ale. Explorer, '61 SG RI, I don't have the Casino anymore.
