Good point. It's funny how some here have no problem with Wilco evolving yet expect Jay to rewrite Windfall and Tear Stained Eye over and over.

I was expectiing more from the MTS disc but I still enjoyed it. I love Beatles tribute bands. We go to the 1964 The Tribute show at Red Rocks every year, always a great time. They do the "wig and nose" thing and I get a kick out of it, they even have the stances and moves down. Great fun.

I've walked out of several shows. Sebadoh-incredibly boring with sub par musicianship was the reason, ca. Bakesale tour. Sonic Youth-they are hit and miss for me. Black Crowes-my freakin' ride home showed up to early and I had to leave. DBT's-12/31/05, it was the 3rd of 3 shows I attended and I got too wasted so I bailed.

I started the project the week before Xmas and wasn't really satisfied with the configuration or the tone I was getting. Bad part was it got expensive fast, I had to put it on hold while I decided what pedals would round out the board. I ended up taking it apart thinking I would re-do the cabling with the hopes of reducing the noise. As it turned out I didn't want to spend the time messing with the cabling knowing I would be pulling it apart when I had the cash to buy the rest of the pedals. So far so good, I was able to take the noise supressor out of the chain with the new cabling, I used

I don't really hear Either Way as a relationship song but as a struggle with depression. The subject seems to be looking for reinforcement from their partner to help quell feeling so bad. Either Way I really like the song. It's likely going to be my favorite Wilco song ever. In fact the first time I heard it I got choked up, it perfectly explained the way I was feeling that day. It's not often music affects me that way.

Good point. In a way the Lips are kind of like a KISS or Alice Cooper. They can play and they write decent music but they aren't really a musical powerhouse. Without the stage show it wouldn't come across as well. The DBT's on the other hand are capable, and do deliver a powerful show . I have a feeling they could be a real force if they could make it to a bigger stage. My most enjoyable live bands out there now are Wilco, DBT and the Black Crowes.

I don't really have any guilty pleasures other than I listen to CMT, you know the country music TV thing. I find myself liking many of the younger bands I see on there. It seems like there is a return to a more classic country sound lately.

What we've seen with SBS is nothing compared to the AGIB controversy. Up until the day the of the official release people were calling and hoping some of the leaked tracks were demos. Each track was dissected and discussed. The white noise was dissected and discussed. The album came out and it was the same and that was dissected and discussed. In the end AGIB became a fan favorite in no small part to being a great album. Much has been said about the songs being "better" live. I say baah to that, it was a kick ass album from the day it leaked. I don't think many old fans jumped ship either. Eac

One thing is for sure, everybody has different ears and perceives what they hear in different ways. The fan reviews for SBS have been all over the map. Not all that surprising since each fan defines Wilco in a different way. It's not like I need to understand every musical move they make however it helps me that I still think of Wilco as the cool band I heard in 1995. Each successive album has been different from it's predecessor but it always sounds like Wilco. It shouldn't matter that it doesn't adhere to each individual fans vision of the direction they thought the band would take. Nobody

I had a newer Korean Epi Casino and it was just ok. I never had a tuning problem but it had a buzz I couldn't get rid of. Not fret buzz but a weird buzzy overtone. I traded it for a Strat.

I'd look into a used USA made Epi Elitest Sheraton or Riviera or used Orville 335. You may be able to find a used Gibson ES-137 for 1K or less.

That's a weird description of Fender guitars. In my experience Fender's, Strat's included, are the most "woody" sounding electric guitars made. However his tone is great throughtout SBS, to my ears Nel's played some humbucker equipped guitars on SBS as well.

They do get quite a bit of play on the digital and satellite stations. I hear Wilco in Chipoltle all the time, Home Depot too.

You have more guts than I do, I can't listen to much KBCO without getting put off. I've heard some Wilco here and there, oddly enough I heard Monday on KBCO last night. The lack of decent radio in Denver makes me leave it on the presets so I can use all 6 to flip through, if something I like is on I stop then move to another station immediately when that song ends.

It's a good album no doubt but a masterpiece it is not. Honestly I don't really think it sounds like SV, it's a little light on guitar playing compared to most SV albums. However it falls right in line with Jay's solo stuff, not quite as strong as Sebastopol IMO. If I have a complaint it's the opening track, that's a head scratcher. Actually the omission of Slow Hearse and Action would have made the flow much better, IMO of course. Jay if you're reading this, please fix your running order. Kisses...

He didn't and my guess is he wasn't. I think the original poster used that "fact" as proof of The Bands prowess. However Clapton has been pretty forthcoming about guitarist's that had an influence on him or changed his way of thinking ie. Hendrix. He has been pretty vocal about the influence Big Pink had on him so maybe the person who said that drew some conclusions from that. Who knows.

He may be talking about the solo exchange during "Further on up the Road". Not many people know that Clapton's guitar came unstrapped during the solo. So what looks and sounds like Robbie trying to showboat is just him lending a hand to the de-guitared EC. The ensuing mugging between the two is a result of that.

For all practical purposed LF did end shortly after The Band. By 1976 all the was once great about LF was pretty much gone with Lowell George on the sidelines.

I'm kind of surprised people here aren't more into Little Feat. IMO their first two albums are as good as anything The Band did. However towards the end of the Lowell George era the material was kind of iffy but I suppose the same could be said of post Cahoots Band material. LF is probably not as historically influential but I think it depends who you ask. In the guitar community Lowell George is up there with Duane Allman.
