  1. I thought the Golden Age was great.
  2. Inspired by my own comment in the Grateful Dead thread, what was your first concert? Mine was the Jerry Garcia Band in Boston 40 years ago tonight. If nothing else, I heard Tangled Up in Blue for the first time and bought Blood on the Tracks the next day.
  3. I do like the new one Quickies. (And yes, it's 28 songs over 46 minutes with the shortest being 17 seconds and the longest being 2:35.) I'm mixed on the 50 Song Memoir. I think it has some of their best stuff ever but it also has some filler.
  4. I saw my first concert ever 40 years ago tonight: Jerry Garcia Band at the Orpheum in Boston.
  5. You are going deep into the Feelies' family! That album has some good stuff on it. I love Spinning.
  6. I've been enjoying the Deadcast. They're doing a song-by-song look at Workingman's Dead. There is some good background stuff and interviews. https://www.dead.net/deadcast
  7. From the Replacements FB page: Following up last year’s DEAD MAN’S POP, PLEASED TO MEET ME (DELUXE EDITION) will be available as a 3 CD/1LP set and digitally on October 9! More than half of the music (29 of the 55 tracks) on this deluxe edition set is unreleased material, including demos, rough mixes, and outtakes, as well as Bob Stinson’s last recordings with The Replacements from 1986. Pre-order your copy and listen to six previously unreleased “rough mixes,” including “Alex Chilton,” here: https://Rhino.lnk.to/pleasedtomeetmeSeveral exclusive bundles can also be pre-ordered now at www.Rhi
  8. I'm about halfway through the Larson book so I'll check back. I'd love to hear what you think. My dad is a big Churchill guy and thought it was well done.
  9. I tend to alternate between fiction and non-fiction, as well as between books that make me focus on today's social storm and those that are a break from it. That said, here's what I am currently reading:
  10. David Byrne - American Utopia soundtrack
  11. Nice long piece in Rolling Stone about the 2+ hours of Workingmans era studio rehearsals being released as part of the 50th anniversary. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/grateful-dead-workingmans-dead-reissue-angels-share-1011483/ Songs are on Spotify but also streaming on Stereogum: https://www.stereogum.com/2089937/grateful-dead-workingmans-dead-the-angels-share/music/
  12. Ha! Not surprised that you beat me to it ...
  13. That's a good one. Think I'll go put it on myself ...
  14. Playing all of 69 Love Songs in honor of the fact that I was supposed to see the Magnetic Fields last night and again tonight.
  15. William Tyler - Impossible Truth
  16. While Fables is the REM album I go back to the most, I'd still say that Harborcoat remains my favorite REM song.
  17. It's probably the REM album I listen to most regularly at this point.
  18. New Magnetic Fields - Quickies
