  1. I'm a little late to the game but we just watched Portrait of a Lady on Fire and thought it was great.
  2. Leroy Bach was in the band at that time (playing guitar, keyboards, and background vocals).
  3. Chez - right back atcha. Yes, I really liked Ryan's book. I was born and raised in the Boston area (and am still here) so much of what he wrote really resonated. I learned a lot about Van Morrison and the weird stuff going on in Boston/Cambridge at the time. Highly recommend the book.
  4. That album and Tiny Cities were really big for me (but I have a tough time listening to Kozelek now).
  5. Apparently ed fromohio is having a tough time: https://www.gofundme.com/f/ed-fromohio-firehose-crawford-needs-our-help
  6. Linking threads, wasn't that the top selling album of all time at Other Music?
  7. Oh I am sure the intimidation was as much about me as it was them. The time I went in I was rushed and I couldn't quite figure out how things were sorted and wasn't sure what I was looking for. I spent a lot of time in that neighborhood from '86 to '88 and had it been around then I am sure I would have been a regular.
  8. Ha! I watched it last night and really liked it. I only went in there once and found it somewhat intimidating. Oddly, the documentary doesn't mention (unless I missed it) that Josh Madell, one of the owners, was the drummer for Antietam for many years.
  9. Taking a break from Talking Heads to listen to this.
  10. They really are. And so different from each other. I'm enjoying the book - but it definitely seems like Frantz needed an outlet to publicly vent about Byrne.
  11. Reading Chris Frantz's autobiography so I'm revisiting the early albums.
  12. Random thoughts/memories: There were not many people on my high school into the Dead so it was fun to see this scenePeople cheered loudly at the "I wish I was a headlight" line in I Know You RiderI knew drums/space was a thing but didn't quite get itI was surprised at how quiet it was during parts of Wharf RatAnd I really remember leaving and wanting to see them again
