  1. Last night was the 39th anniversary of my first concert ever - Jerry Garcia Band (with Dr John opening). The version of Tangled Up in Blue from that night is one of my favorite live music memories.
  2. Oooh good one. One of my faves.
  3. Lots of mystery of Replacements social media pages but it looks like a box set of ‘Don’t Tell a Soul’ alternate mixes & outtakes is coming out. Not sure I need the whole thing but "If Only You Were Lonely (feat. Tom Waits)" could be great. http://www.brooklynvegan.com/the-replacements-appear-to-be-releasing-a-box-set-of-dont-tell-a-soul-alternate-mixes-outtakes/?fbclid=IwAR3MYP9zTxXaGXLVyHWl303C-JzvqRq4fWzSP79zr0GfCFreGtde2-y7U7Q
  4. Pretty well done piece about the 50 states project: https://www.theringer.com/music/2019/7/15/20691544/sufjan-stevens-50-states-illinois-michigan-seven-swans-indie-folk-pitchfork
  5. We did too. I enjoyed it (to the point where my daughter convinced us to start again with season 1 right away).
  6. Awesome. I just contributed to the GoFundMe page to help her out ...
  7. Nice write up Tim. The Feelies also do a bunch of Jonathan Richman covers but I think they play them twice as fast as Jonathan.
  8. Nice write-up on Weiss from Rob Sheffield: https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/janet-weiss-drum-goddess-sleater-kinney-855098/
  9. Agree 100%. I hadn't yet bought tickets for the Boston show but I'm wondering if I should wait to hear the new record.
  10. Janet Weiss just tweeted (@jazzhand) that she's leaving Sleater-Kinney. She wrote "the band is heading in a new direction and it is time for me to move on."
  11. Sort of related to this category: I was listening to an old episode of This American Life and they were telling the story of Stetson Kennedy.
  12. Pitchfork has a piece about it: https://pitchfork.com/thepitch/radiohead-fans-vs-black-market-sellers-the-battle-to-leak-the-ok-computer-tapes/
  13. Yeah, I read that yesterday. I remember hearing about the fire but had no understanding of the extent of the damage to the archives. Really tragic.
  14. Released 34 years ago today. How is that possible? I remember buying it the day it came out. Might be my favorite REM album front to back.
  15. Moreso than Start! by The Jam?
  16. The first concert I ever saw was Dr John opening for the Jerry Garcia Band.
  17. Was excited to read this - and was very saddened to learn that Horwitz died yesterday.
