  3. Nice! I watched that movie not too long ago for the first time in years.
  4. When I took my road test the guy offered to buy my car in the middle of the test. (It was a bitchin' 1963 Corvair in really nice condition.)

  8. Yes, but I don't know what. (How is that for a useful asnwer ...) He pulled up rounding third and after he scored apparently went right to the trainer's room.
  9. "Wily Mo Pena has been traded to the Washington Nationals, one of the teams frequently mentioned as a potential landing spot, for cash considerations and a player to be named later."
  10. Q: Did you hear where Mr. and Mrs. Cantaloupe are sending their kids for the summer? A: To John Cougar's Melon Camp. Thanks. I'll be here all week ...
  11. The price might be right very soon: "The Red Sox are designating outfielder Wily Mo Pena for assignment to create a roster spot of Clay Buchholz. That would give the Sox 10 days to either trade or release Pena. If Buchholz comes up, he could be optioned back to the PawSox after the game, creating an opening for veteran outfielder Bobby Kielty."
  12. When Hayes said that the adminsitration has never questioned anyone's patriotism, Stewart was almost too flustered to respond.
  13. It's not grabbing me the way some of his other stuff has, but it is still pretty good.

  15. Were it not for last night's clubbing, I think he'd be a lock.
  16. Former big leaguer Offerman arrested for melee BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Former major league All-Star Jose Offerman was arrested Tuesday night after charging the mound and hitting the pitcher and catcher with his bat during an independent minor league game. Bridgeport police said Offerman was arrested, but did not detail the charge. Police said he posted bond. Offerman, playing for the Long Island Ducks in the Atlantic League, homered in the first inning. The next inning, he was hit by a pitch from Bridgeport's Matt Beech and charged the mound with his bat. Offerman hit Beech in the hands a
  17. Consider the source, but this is what Wikipedia has to say about it: Rizzuto broadcast Yankee games on radio and television for the next 40 years. His popular catchphrase was "Holy cow." Although Harry Caray was punctuating his broadcasts with the phrase even while Rizzuto was still playing, Rizzuto once claimed he'd been saying it his whole life, instead of using profanity.
  18. I heard that he actually performs the surgeries himself ...
  19. When I lived in NYC many years ago the Village Voice used to publish Phil Rizzuto "poetry" that was very funny. They collected these random statements that he would make during games. THE PRINCE I. Last night I was watching TV. I was watching Arsenio Hall. And he had Prince on. I wanna-- What a character he is! Holy cow! II. Entertainer. Singer. And he can dance. He's a little bitty guy. He had a weird beard. I tell ya it was-- I couldn't explain it. III. It was a real beard. I mean, You know how they do it now. Some of them. It doesn't come all the way Up to the sideburns
  20. Hapy birfday, indeed. Have a Schlitz tall boy ...
  21. And this is the part where I say (again) that I saw Hanley Ramirez play for the Single A Lowell Spinners. And while he did not do anything spectacular, he looked like a man among boys.
  22. I subscribe (mainly because it is incredibly cheap) but I think of it as a guilty pleasure, like reading People magazine at the dentist's office.
  23. I am very excited about this but part of me wonders if Tom Verlaine and Nels and Lee Ranaldo (and Smokey Hormel and Malkmus) might be too much guitar for one song ...
  24. It is impressive but I have to wonder about any major league record held by Jim Barr.
