  2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZwgu8_b0Vw The Simpsons was always ahead of its time ...
  3. Looks like he'll retire at the end of the season: http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/7211281/penn-state-nittany-lions-joe-paterno-retire-end-season
  4. I know I'm a little late on this but I really enjoyed it. It present some scary information about food production/food policy.
  5. For readers of the Wallander mysteries, the Dragon Tattoo books, or just anyone looking for another series of Scandinavian detective/mystery books, these are pretty good.
  6. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6M-h5g3PwI This made me laugh.
  7. Somehow this song had never caught my attention before. It came on shuffle the other day and for a second I thought it was Tugboat by Galaxie 500 and then I was wondering if it was on Merritt's new Obscurities collection. I was shocked when I realized it was on an album I have been listening to for years. It's so simple yet so great.
  8. Although I've had this for a while, this is becoming one of my favorite Magnetic Fields albums.
  9. Big League Stew has the story of the fan who caught Freese's homer: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_league_stew/post/The-story-of-the-Cardinals-fan-who-returned-Davi?urn=mlb-wp25597 I like his friend sporting the Cubs t-shirt.
  10. For those in the Boston area Buffalo Tom is playing three 25th Anniversary shows next month (November 25, 26, and 27). The first night Ted Leo is opening, Eugene Mirman will do a comedy bit, and J Mascis will be a special guest playing with them. Second night will include Tanya Donelly, and they are going to announce other guests for nights two and three. I'm bummed I can't make the first night because I'd love to see Mascis play with them but I think I'll make the next two.
  11. I saw that tour too. I was a huge Dylan fan (still am) and it was my first time seeing him. I was really disappointed in Dylan but thought Petty and his band were great.

  13. I would not vote for the Late Greats in this poll but I will say that it was one of my favorite live closers. It was the encore at the Newport Folk Festival in 2004 and it was a perfect ending to a great show. Whenever I think of that show I think of people filing towards the parking lot humming/singing that song.
  14. I voted for IATTBYH but if I were ranking them (today), I'd put Art of Almost second.
  15. Really liked this. Brendan Gleeson is great.
  16. They are a weird band for me. I feel that their first album really is a perfect album. I like everything on it. But when I've heard the demos that were part of one of the re-releases or live stuff, it doesn't do as much for me and some of Ian Brown's vocals are just plain bad. The second album has some good stuff on it, but to my ears, there is also lots of filler.
