  1. Was that Mr. T in the booth for part of last night's Cubs-Pirates game? I only watched the game for a few minutes but there was a guy making sort of random comments and then he actually started talking during a break. It sounded like Mr. T but they never identified him while I was watching.

  3. This is turning into the multi-purpose Dylan thread but I thought this was interesting: Dylan "poem" on sale was actually Hank Snow song.
  4. I bought a falafel from him at Red Rocks in '92 ...
  5. Once I saw the number of name actors listed, I began to worry.
  6. I don't know if this is appropriate to post here but the update is that he is getting close but he needs a little more money to finish it. Details here ...
  7. A bunch of pictures and video from this show are on this guy's blog.
  8. I just went out for a cup of coffee and there was a guy playing guitar outside my building. He was playing the Late Greats when I went out and California Stars when I came back. I gave him $2.
  9. I don't actually know. I'm not a huge Jayhawks fan and it was not something I recognized.
  10. When you figure it out, please let me know ...
  11. Amazing show by Bon Iver last night. Certainly one of the great things about it was the venue. It was in an old theater on Cape Cod that seats only 300 people. It has great acoustics and an amazing mural by Rockwell Kent on the ceiling. I think partly because of the setting and partly because there was no alcohol for sale the place was pin-drop quiet while they were playing. We were not sure what the deal was with the theater so we got there ridiculously early. As we walked up to the place the side doors were open and they were doing the sound check. We watched them play Flume and For
  12. Going to see them tonight in a small theater (300 seats) on Cape Cod.
  13. Glenn Mercer and Bill Million of the Feelies
  14. They won Game 1 4-0, Game 2 6-3 (on Manny's home run shown in that picture), and Game 3 9-1. And while I don't have a problem with that particular celebration I do think it was the start of Manny's both-arms-raised celebration for even routine home runs.
  15. And IIRC, that particular picture is of a game winning, walk-off home run he hit against the Angels in Game 2 of the 2007 ALDS.
  16. "In stores and on the nets June 30, at the latest. "
  17. I'll admit I don't follow this the way I used to but how is there a JGB without JG? Who is in the band? Do they play the same songs the Garcia Band used to play only with different guitar players/singers?
  18. The Brooklyn Bridge is one of my favorite things in New York. When I lived in Brooklyn (a long time ago) I used to walk over the bridge regularly.
  19. That's a great book. The Ken Burns documentary about it is pretty good too.
  20. One of the dumbest moves the Red Sox ever made was trading Moyer to Seattle for Darren Bragg.
  21. Mark Spencer played guitar in Blood Oranges, but the band was led by a guy named Jimmy Ryan who mostly played mandolin. I don't know what their albums are like but I saw them a bunch around Boston in the early 1990s and they were great live.
