I think it's funny that in the Eagles on-line store you can buy a jersey for your dog.

According to wikia24: "Kanin was named after Iowa Writers' Workshop faculty member Ethan Canin who is a longtime friend of 24 show-runner Howard Gordon and writer Alex Gansa."

Steven Tyler in today's Boston Globe Hmm. Judging from this photo of Steven Tyler and actor Chuck Slavin at Pembroke Center Liquors, the Aerosmith singer is indeed in no shape to continue the band's summer tour. Tyler's arm is in a sling as a result of a broken shoulder suffered when he fell off the stage in South Dakota. (Those Zsa Zsa Gabor glasses aren't doing him any favors.) In an apology over the weekend to fans via Twitter, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry made it sound like it wasn't his idea to cancel the remainder of the tour. "I am so sorry about vocalist Steven Tyler having to ca

Just got back from the Red Sox-Tigers game (where I walked in behind David Duchovny). Man, Justin Verlander is a stud. He was still throwing 100 mph in the 8th ...

I met my wife seeing Casablanca so for me it is both the best and my favorite movie.

So Sparky, is it really you? -
I know that album has been out for a while and has been discussed and (appropraitely) praised, but I have probably listened to it more this summer than any other album. I often think of albums as either morning music or night music and for me this is both.

The review is no longer on Pitchfork's website but I remember reading it (and there are plenty of references to the review on other peoples' blogs). They loved If You're Feeling Sinister and if I remember correctly they basically said that Arab Strap was a lazy follow-up. I like Arab Strap a lot but, yes, 0.8 is sort of silly.

Just picked up tickets to go see Joe Pernice on Wednesday night. He is doing a solo tour where he both plays songs from his new album (which comes out tomorrow) and reads from his novel (which comes out Thursday).

I liked the Cambridge Looney Tunes because Peter Prescott (from Mission of Burma/Volcano Suns) worked there.

I wish. Nope, I work for The Man (in Holyoke Center). But you are right in that many of the great ones have disappeared. I spent a lot of time in places like Second Coming, Disc Diggers, Mystery Train. I'm sure there are plenty of others that I am forgetting.

I can see In Your Ear from my (office) window. If you are in Harvard Square, there is also Planet Records, which is pretty good. And if you are looking for really weird stuff there is the appropriately named weirdo records in Central.

Via pitchfork: Back in 1980, New Jersey postpunk originators the Feelies dropped Crazy Rhythms, their classic debut. Crazy Rhythms was a short, sharp shock of spiky guitars and sidelong grooves, the sort of album destined to become an influential but underappreciated relic, which is exactly what happened. You can hear bits and pieces of Crazy Rhythms all over American indie rock from the 1980s, especially in the first few R.E.M. albums, but the band's history was plagued by commercial failure and frequent breakups. The LP has been out of print forever. That's about to change. The Feelies a

I liked it but it was sort of odd in that it was a fictionalized telling of a true story.
