Saw somewhere on the Internet that the album is called The New Multitudes and is gonna be released in January 2012.
-
Anybody see a tracklisting for the soundtrack album? Can't find it anywhere.

half.com has the DVD for $15 (used), and Amazon Marketplace has it for $18 (used). I'm tempted to go for it, but I think I'll wait and see if it's included in the box set.

This is great news, assuming that we're talking about a CD box set and not vinyl. I have the two Mermaid Avenue CDs and have never heard the b-sides or outtakes, and I've seen the DVD once but don't own it. I've thought about buying it, but now I'll wait and see if it's included in this box set.

Heard "Pot Kettle Black" in a Which Wich sandwich shop in Columbia, SC today. Never was a big fan of that song, but boy did it sound good! I think it's time to revisit YHF, which I haven't listened to in probably 5 years.

Just got done watching the Vedder DVD. Great stuff! Anybody know the name of the gal who sings "Golden State" with Eddie?

Are you referring to the live in Dallas DVD that was supposed to have been released a year or two ago? So that's been scrapped, eh? Too bad. I've never seen WJ live (and I probably never will) and I figured that DVD would have been the next best thing. The new album is pretty damn wonderful!

Bob's got a new solo album coming out on May 24: Lord of the Birdcage.

I still buy CDs (new and used). The only digital release I've ever bought is Centro-matic's Eyas EP, and I only did that cuz that's the only way it was released.

I see your point. I guess I'd just like to see a comprehensive non-limited-edition, or not-limited-to-fan-club-members-only, sort of release that is on CD, not iTunes. But I'm not holding my breath waiting for one. You know who else is long overdue for a comprehensive, non-limited-edition rariries compilation besides the aforementioned U2 and REM? The Flaming Lips. I remember reading an interview with Wayne in which he said he dislikes rarities comps and has no interest in the Lips releasing one. Too bad. There's tons of rare and unreleased Lips tunes.

Album(s) You Want In Your Bum Bum To Take With You To The Great Beyond
Doug replied to u2roolz's topic in Someone Else's Song
Guided by Voices- Bee Thousand Pearl Jam- No Code Dylan- Blonde on Blonde -
I wonder if these guys will ever get around to doing a b-sides/rarities compilation (preferably a box set with at least 4 or 5 discs). Or maybe they're throwing the best of that stuff onto the deluxe reissues. U2 and REM are two bands in desperate need of a big, fat, comprehensive rarities compilation.

Songs not good enough for the album they are on
Doug replied to Lammycat's topic in Someone Else's Song
REM- "Shiny Happy People" (Out of Time) The Cure- "Friday I'm in Love" (Wish) My Morning Jacket- "Highly Suspicious" (Evil Urges) Rocket from the Crypt- "Eye On You" (RFTC) Dylan- "Rainy Day Women 12 & 35" and "Pledging My Time" (Blonde on Blonde) (I ALWAYS skip the first two tracks of BoB) -
Archers of Loaf- "Wrong" Crooked Fingers- "You Threw a Spark" Cinerama- "Hate" Monsters of Folk- "Goodway"

I used to dislike and dismiss Circus Devils, but now I'm a fan. Not a fanatic, but a fan. The first two CD albums, Ringworm Interiors and Harold Pig Memorial confused and disappointed me. So I skipped Pinball Mars, figuring it'd be more of the same, and then I skipped Five too. But then, Sgt. Disco came out on a non-Bob-owned label (Ipecac Records) and it got some pretty good press, so it got me thinking that maybe it might not be too bad. I took a chance on it and loved the fuck out of it, so I gobbled up Pinball Mars and Five and decided to get caught up. Pinball Mars is pretty good in a rel

Hopefully there'll also be another Circus Devils album soon. It seems like ages since Mother Skinny came out, but I guess it's only been something like four months. I've also got my fingers crossed for Power of Suck, the unreleased '96 album that somehow morphed into Under the Bushes, Under the Stars. There was talk of it finally coming out this year, but who knows?
