  1. There isn't a true "hard core right winger" that has no use for the Constitution. He's severely misguided if that's the case. Of course, this is true of people at the extremes of either side.
  2. As long as whatever role he plays requires him to look like he's about to vomit after every song he sings.
  3. I don't think anyone was politicizing anything until you stepped in, though. Even the AFP story reporting the diagnosis made mention of the Chappaquiddick incident. And amidst all this talk of tragedy surrounding Ted Kennedy and the relative "tragic-ness" of it, it seems understandable that Mary Jo Kopechne would eventually get mentioned.
  4. How is this relevant to Ted Kennedy again?
  5. The home page now says Friday's was canceled. There will still be one tomorrow night, apparently.
  6. Sometimes you just have to chalk something up to not being in your wheelhouse, so to speak. Loveless clicked pretty immediately for me (and I don't even play the guitar) and I have arguments with most of my friends today comparing it to Achtung Baby...only because of their proximity of release dates. For me, I've tried to repeatedly get into Sonic Youth (what is it, 20 years or so?). I just haven't ever been able to.
  7. Just another court exceeding the scope of its responsibility. From a dissent:
  8. Great job, Lee! The recording sounds great. Looking forward to hearing Monday's show.
  9. Wilco - Live at Stubbs in Austin - 5/11/08
  10. It was as good as it looks on paper. The dueling guitars on Hoodoo Voodoo was also an unexpected surprise. I haven't been listening to any recent shows either, and that was definitely a highlight of the second encore.
  11. Definitely an incredible show. Probably the best I've ever seen them. Nels tore up That's Not the Issue and opening with Sunken Treasure has fulfilled my Wilco wishlist of songs to see live (it took 5 shows).
  12. The fact that he doesn't give a shit is certainly his most endearing quality. That, or the fact that he's the only one that's smoked a J before taking the stage.
  13. Yeah, it's one or the other. I always thought it sucked back when I was in school. But, I'm kind of thankful for it now since I'll be driving back to Fort Worth after the show.
  14. Haven't been able to get this out of my head.
  15. Hey, I have to walk to the back of the building occasionally.
  16. I thought the curfew was 10:30. I'm pretty much anticipating Wilco to play from 8 or 8:15 until 10 to 10:30. Somewhere in that range. But I already told you, you can sleep in the car. And when you're dead.
  17. You think gas companies are setting the price of gas? And I agree...we need real solutions to the problem. We need to start drilling in Alaska and off our coasts. We need to lift restrictions on oil companies and refineries to allow them to become more efficient. We need to allow for the construction of nuclear power plants to provide more sources for energy. We need to stop subsidizing corn for ethanol production as some alternative source of fuel, which is absolutely ridiculous.
  18. So it's better that the government takes my money rather than me keeping it because it's such a small figure.
  19. Nice article on this in the Washington Post: The 'Race' Speech Revisited
  20. I don't think it was a "bit," though. I think you could argue that it is a potential flaw for a performer or artist to have, but I think the emotions were genuine and heartfelt. Which is a lot more than anyone can say for robotic little Archuleta and Syesha (her Miss America-type answer to Seacrest's question about choosing songs was ridiculous).
  21. I don't understand the Brooke hate among some people. I actually think she's one of the few finalists that could have some semblance of a career beyond Idol.
