  1. Apparently there weren't many interesting offers for this edition of RSD, in my opinion they should limit this thing to only once in a year. Stuff that was on sale for this past November was quite redundant and unnecessary, yet I still bought a copy of Ballad of Boogie Christ Act 2.

  3. Someone saved my brother and I from drowning in a pool, sometime in the mid eighties, I thank that person for saving my brother's life.
  4. you could say I like Christmas for the most "mundane" reasons: the shopping, the lavish dinners, the winter weather, the colourful street lights and the Christmas TV specials (plus Christmas music). I like the season because I'm on vacation those days, but to be honest the "true meaning of Christmas" so to speak, does not touch me, sincerely or spiritually, I started losing interest in the deep meaning of Christmas when I learnt that my friends from the Balkans celebrated Christmas around January 8th, as dictated by their religion (this taught me that "Christmas" was a relative concept with no
  5. Killingsworth in my opinion is full of religious references, not sure if the band intended them to have a Christian meaning, but take these lyrics as an example: “I would rather sacrifice you than to miss sweet Jesus’ call/ I will die a Christian soldier if I ever die at all”. That's what I dislike about the album, in general I try to avoid exposure to religious content, especially Christian, but other than this I don't think the album is unlistenable, a few of the songs come up regularly on my iPod and I own the CD on physical format as well. Of course, the Gun Album was a superior beas
  6. We've always lived in a golden age of pop: Donna Summer - Madonna - Lady Gaga Patsy Cline - Mariah Carey - Adele Beatles - New Kids on the Block - One Direction It's all part of a big historical loop repeating itself.

  9. The best album of 2013 is a double CD called Ballad of Boogie Christ by Joseph Arthur, simply extraordinary.
  10. Pearl Jam deserves respect, but perhaps it's got too much critical acclaim!
  11. The wait is over! Minor Alps, Get There is being released next Tuesday, October 29th.The Dream Syndicate 1982 EP, reissue out November 19, 2013.
  12. I never thought I'd praise a rap, hip-hop album, but The Low End Theory is such an extraordinary record with very smooth sounds, I could listen to this all day. I think the whole album sounds like it was an entire, very large song, the vocals allowing you to surf on a wave of jazzy beats.
  13. I'm looking forward to the new album by Wesley Stace, due this month, also, the joint album between Juliana Hatfield and Matthew Caws, due in October.
  14. Really good band from Seattle, members are: Jeff Angell, Duff McKagan, Benjamin Anderson and Barrett Martin. Just ordered their CD.
  15. Just wanted to say what an extraordinary song V.D. City is, it's the only track from the album that I continue to listen, somewhat frequently, as a result of this I have taken an interest in Anders Parker's music.
  16. I read that the reason they're closing has to do with lack of parking space?
  17. WASSAIC WAY Release Date: August 6th 2013 Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion will release their third studio album together Wassaic Way on August 6 via Route 8 Records. Produced by Jeff Tweedy and Patrick Sansone of Wilco, the album’s eleven original songs were recorded at that band’s famed Chicago studio, The Loft and feature the duo’s most ambitious songwriting, far-reaching arrangements and electrifying performances to date.
  18. The R.E.M. website is still online, and although they do an excellent job on facebook and on their blog, they're quite slow to react to news events. I normally find out about stuff a week or two in anticipation, for instance, the Tired Pony album was announced in late-February and they only posted about it last Friday. Some other articles they post are either too general or too vague, like an NPR story they recently ran, but I understand this, since the band no longer exists, news events that are properly R.E.M. specific are scarce and the definition of what's acceptable to post has broadened.
