  1. I've had it for a while. So far, I am totally unimpressed with the album. All of the songs seem flat and too samey to me. At least with the other PSoI albums/eps, there were about 10 decent songs between them all. I didn't find one on this latest album.
  2. My wife and I were discussing the cd and if it's still important last night. I guess I fall on the side of "I'd rather have the physical copy" or at least something physical that represents music. I hate the idea of not having something to hold or pull off the shelf.
  3. My official opinion on this: minus two or three songs (and I am using the deluxe edition as my basis), this isn't too bad.
  4. Guided by Voices - Suitcase 1, 2 and 3. 12 disc, 300 songs of mostly unreleased material. For fans only but there are some good things to hear. Guided by Voices - Hardcore U.F.O's. 4 "new" discs, Forever Since Breakfast on cd, and Come Watch Me Jumpstart DVD. More for casual fans than the other box sets. There's a retrospective disc, a live favorites disc, a singles/7" disc, and an unreleased song disc. Good stuff.

  6. I am really enjoying this too. I guess I am joining the crowd...I haven't read the P-fork review yet.
  7. Thanks for that link: my wife and I really enjoyed watching that. They're my wife's favorite new band. She loves the album quite a bit and I really like it too. I never really listened to them before this album. My twin brother has been all about them for years and has seen them a ton of times but he never turned me on to them.
  8. I was listening to Joy Division earlier today. They're great on a rainy day...go figure. NP:
  9. I'll second the recommendation of Transatlanticism. It is their best, but also check out The Photo Album. I am loving this collaboration/album quite a bit too. My expectations were set very, very low because I thought that the pairing just didn't fit. However, I think that they're an awesome combo.
  10. I have it as the bonus disc on UTBUTS and I may have it on vinyl too. I believe it was a Japanese Import version of UTBUTS or something like that. I saw it somewhere online...I'll PM you soon.
  11. You're right. I looked through the hundreds of demos I have on my hard drive when they released all of those demos back around the earlier part of the decade. I found a live version of the song on an album 3 set of demos. And yes, it was on the second Alone album as well. I knew it sounded familiar, but at the time I was too lazy to look.
  12. Man I really got about 15 second into the second bonus cut, Run Over by a Truck and changed it to the next track. Awful. Have they recorded The Prettiest Girl In The Whole Wide World before? It sounded familiar to me...Anyway, it didn't sound too bad and was the only redeemable bonus track.
  13. I tend to agree with Solace on this, I was into it until I hit "Can't Stop Partying." After listening to it once, my initial reaction is that it's just slightly worse than their previous 2-3 records but not to a significant degree. The lyrics do tend to be a bit more cringe-worthy in areas. I dunno, I need to spend more time with it. I always find 2-3 redeeming tracks on their most recent albums. Even after a while, I sorta like Make Believe after my initial hatred for the album.
