  1. My wife and I were listening to this several times while traveling this weekend and I think we both dug the first few songs, but overall thought it was only okay. I think I was just initially liked that they put a record out but I am now t the point to where I feel that it would have made a really nice 5 song ep. Any word on why it's taking so long for Gillian to put a record out? It's almost like she's bee hiding behind the DRM for a few years now.
  2. I like it pretty good. It's by no means great, but still a good listen. I like the Ward Colorado side better. It's my first exposure to his work, so I don't know anything about his other stuff. I'll have to check Coyotes out. NP:
  3. Must be Santa is one of my favorite Christmas songs ever. Love the video.
  4. Yeah, he stood about 7-8 feet in front of us. I always tell the wife that I want to be the jackass to wear the Wilco shirt because there's always at least one. Or the jackass wearing the Uncle Tupelo shirt; again always one of those too. I always chicken out though. Downtown G-ville is great. I used to go down there a lot when I used to drink to the various bars and such. We go to Wild Wings a lot. we live the perfect distance from downtown: a good 5-10 minute straight drive to downtown for us. It took us about 5 minutes to get home from the Handlebar last night. The show definite
  5. Yeah, I saw them in September too in Charlotte. Last night's show was great, in my opinion. The wife seemed to like them too. I thought the opening act was excellent. Jay was as friendly or engaged as he was in Charlotte. One complaint though: the set list was practically the same with a few omissions and the show seemed short. I guess it wasn't that short though, I mean it was short of 2 hours.
  6. Thanks for the link, I'll listen later. Great.
  7. I'm an art teacher and it hit the spot during my down time at school today. I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked it. I thought it would be sort of a "meh" record, but I have seriously listened to it 4-5 times already today.
  8. Too much to count! We need to make this an on-going thread, you know, cumulative as we purchase them. The Lou Barlow board I post at does this. It's nice to know what everybody's into and such...
  9. Me too! Looking forward to it, they tore it up when I saw them in September.
  10. I feel you on the Grizzly Bear stuff. I was just listening to their newest one while exercising and thinking the same thing. Easily the worst album by the Lemonheads...
  11. Didn't they just replace a few members a couple of weeks back?
  12. My wife listened to disc 2, something like 5-6 times today. She loves that album but when I went to put on more Ryan Adams, she was like "Oh no! No more Ryan Adams!"
  13. After listening to cold Roses today, I decided to pop this one on this evening for a little re-evaluation. I'm still not that into it but it's not near as bad as I remembered.
  14. Best Coast - Black Iris ep Lo-fi girly-beach-pop stuff. Great.
  15. I was born in 1980 and went to college in the late 90's, but REM and the 'Mats were in heavy rotation around the dorm constantly, so it's a tough choice. I would have said that REM would have been the band in high school, but by the time I was in college the 'Mats had taken their place. The Pixies were pretty high in the mix too. In fact, I am guessing I had a ritual experience with each of those bands, with the big exception of the Minutemen and CVB. I was never ever able to really get into them although we did listen to Cracker quite a bit.
  16. My five: Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane... Sebadoh - Bakesale Weezer - Pinkerton Guided By Voices - Bee Thousand Ryan Adams - Heartbreaker
