  1. Yup, but following this link will get you to two unreleased sessions. Also, The Power of Suck is most likely going to be officially released this fall. Freaking awesome. NP:
  2. Cannot wait until i can download the EP tomorrow night.
  3. These two all day long. Love both of them.
  4. I saw some on the Floppy Boot Stomp blog and have been trying to get some from there. Whoever maintains the blog uses Rapidshare, which blows. Also, the site is pretty NSFW - it has lots of boobs.
  5. Found a 320 rip of this yesterday afternoon and have played it a few times since. My first thoughts are that it sounds pretty straight forward in comparison to their other albums. I really want to spend more time with it though. Each of their albums have been growers to me, so it may take time for me to even form a cohesive opinion.
  6. Band Of Horses (I think I mentioned them last year in a similar thread) Fleet Foxes Spoon Arcade Fire Miles Kurosky Beach House Robert Pollard (whatever he releases) So far, I think that's it. Not too much on my musical radar for the 2010 calendar.
  7. My wife has been listening to modern country radio and it's irritating the hell out of me. My second choice would be Toby Keith.
  8. Solo: Stereo/Mono is his best, hands down. If you like it, Come Feel me Tremble is worth hunting down too. 14 Songs is the best of his 3 major label records. Suicaine is alright...Eventually has it's moments. 49:00 and all of the more recent albums have their moments. The 'Mats: Let it Be, Tim and Pleased to Meet Me are all classics. Hootenanny is also great record. I don't really listen to the last two albums or the first album and EP anymore.
  9. Oh man, the Pats game is brutal. 21-0 in the first quarter. Ugly so far.
  10. How about the Mountain Goats or John Darnielle? Pretty solid releases in the 00's. Pollard still gets my vote, but Darnielle is a solid second. The Coroner's Gambit 2000 All Hail West Texas 2002 Tallahassee 2002 Ghana 2002 Martial Arts Weekend 2002 (The Extra Glenns) We Shall All Be Healed 2004 The Sunset Tree 2005 Come, Come to the Sunset Tree 2005 Get Lonely 2006 Heretic Pride 2008 The Life of the World to Come 2009 And many ep's and singles.
  11. Respect. Inspired to this on from the prolific thread.
  12. Of course it's not all great, he is a human. But he has a pretty good batting average, especially circa '92-'96. He just releases pretty much everything that he can record. The main criticism of Pollard is that he needs an editor, which in part is true. But if you like at like this: not every Picasso painting was good either. Not every Wilco song is great. You picking up what I'm putting down?
  13. It's a shame that more people don't know about Robert Pollard and Guided by Voices. The man currently has 1,242 songs registered with BMI. I've been into his music for nearly 10 years now and I still feel like I am just exploring the tip of the iceberg. I will always argue that their story is every indie-wannbe musician or music fan's dream come true. Those guys actually lived it. Truly amazing. Making records in their basements for no one in particular to hear, all while under the influence of copious amounts of alcohol. Again, truly amazing. If there is some pinnacle of what it
  14. WTF!? No Robert Pollard. This poll is thusly null and void. 059 - 2000.03.07 - Guided by Voices - Hold on Hope EP (TVT 1985-2) 060 - 2000.04.02 - Guided by Voices - Dayton, Ohio-19 Something and 5 (Fading Captain Series #5) 061 - 2000.10.17 - Guided by Voices - Suitcase: Failed Experiments And Trashed Aircraft (Fading Captain Series #6) 062 - 2000.00.00 - Hazzard Hotrods - Big Trouble (Fading Captain Series #8) 063 - 2000.12.05 - Howling Wolf Orchestra - Speedtraps for the Bee Kingdom (Fading Captain Series #9) 064 - 2001.00.00 - Robert Pollard - Matter Dominates Spirit - Jim Shepard Tribu
  15. Agreed on all points, especially in concerns to CYHSY's 2nd album. I don't think I have ever been so disappointed in an album. I own and love Chinese Democracy and it was in no way disappointing - That's saying something. The auto-tune song was playing as I was typing my last post. I almost said something, but I didn't. It's pretty distracting and most definitely stands out but not in a good way. Bout overall, it's pretty solid. I freaking love the cover art.
  16. I've listened to it about 2-3 times now and I really like it. So far, nothing stands out like Oxford Comma or anything, but it seems to be a more cohesive effort.
  17. My wife and I saw this the other day and really enjoyed it. We don't have an I-Max theater, but we do have digital THX theater. We were surprised by the 3-D elements. We thought it would be gimmicky and such but that was not the case.
