  1. Me too, just putting it on now. I've been humming several tunes off of this since waking up this morning.
  2. I really am enjoying this album. I gave it the first real listen today and was blown away with it.
  3. This is my first Avett's album and I feel the same way. I really am excited about discovering thier other albums. My brother is really into them and has tried for years to get me to listen to them.
  4. I love Isolation Drills, one of my top 5 GBV records and one of the first GBV albums I owned. I think that when you put it in the perspective of that the album before it was Do the Collapse, which is heavily cited as their worst, then ID sounds great in comparison. It's actually an album that I have suggested to several people who aren't into GBV to get. Many of them like it and say it's their best...
  5. For 10/02 Never Cry Another Tear by Bad Lieutenant (Ex-New Order), $2.99.
  6. So far, while listening to this record, I have never once had my interested piqued. Not once. No "hey that sounded good" or "hey, there's a song." Not once, I tell you, not once. Thus, I submit to you that in no way is it interesting or even engaging: it's just plain bad. Challenging: you bet. It's challenging my patience. Their last one (At War...) was bad too but this one is really bad. The random blips and bloops minus the melody are really grating to my nerves.
  7. Up Next: My Bloody Valentine - Before Loveless
  8. Maybe it's just my mindset but it just reminded me of AL, not saying that it's that good. Anyone know when the Sub Pop 7" is coming out?
  9. I'm gonna have to agree with you guys. After spending some serious time with this, I am really digging it. Not to sound like one of the die hards, but it really does remind me of Alien Lanes. I don't know why, but it makes me want to listen to AL.
  10. I thought that exact same thing today as I was listening to the album while exercising. I made a special note in my head of the profanities in the titles and lyrics. He could have done without most of them to be honest.
  11. I found actual copies of the album all over Saturday (CD and LP). I even found a promo copy for $3. Every store I went to had it front and center of their recently released/new/or "hey buy this album" rack.
  12. Dude, I have never heard of Dear Impossible. I would love to hear any of those tracks. Are these singles getting an official 7" release? I saw a picture on facebook of him with a 7" last week. edit: never mind, found them here.
  13. After several listens I am really liking this album a lot. And about the whole pitchfork thing, who cares? I generally like p-fork and have read it for years. Yes, there are some albums that are just plain bad that they hype, but more often than not they have introduced me to music that I would have never heard otherwise. I just don't have an abundance of time or money to go troll blogs, go to concerts of unknown bands just to find that one that is awesome, etc.
  14. Never heard of her but I got a promo a few months back. It was one track but about 30 minutes long. I put in the stereo once but didn't pay attention to it. Also, one of the local record stores has multiple copies of her albums used.
  15. I ordered my copy from Amazon (also $7.99) and have yet to receive it. I hope to get it soon though, as in before Thursday, because my Dad's b-day present was also with that order! I have no expectations for this record and I generally like the one song I've heard. I guess I view it as three artist that I like making music together. I am pretty pumped to hear it and I've tried to avoid reading to much into the criticism of the record and take it at face value.
  16. The wife is on a GNR kick today. At least it's not the freaking Kings of Leon (for the millionth time). Jesus I hate them!
  17. I'm gnna look at the record store today for A.M. They typically have LPs out a few days early...if it's not out I'll be back up there on Tuesday. I am definitely excited about A.M> on vinyl. I already have Being There, so this will be the last one I need to pick up of the re-issues. I do need YHF on vinyl and SBS, but I hate SBS, so I guess I only need to get YHF.
  18. This album just got a 9.1 from Pitchfork today, so it's gonna blow up. The review has a good bit of bio-info in it. Never heard of them but I'm checking them out soon.
  19. New band from New Order’s Bernard Sumner. Pretty cool.
  20. I'm not sure what to think about this one. I listened to about half of and wasn't impressed with it. Seems very boring to me. I really disliked their last album and was hoping for something a little more engaging.
  21. Me too on the Boston Spaceships... The last half of that record, from let it rest a little while 'til the end, absolutely slays.
