  1. What happened to that film where you were an extra next to Mr Sheen? (I am remembering that right - it was you?) Has it been released yet?
  2. Maybe I can get a shuffle on part - I'm feeling like a zombie today.
  3. I can't think of the 70s as one decade to be viewed as a whole. Not with the big fault line that opened up around 1976/7, and all the consequent arguments between the Zeppelin/Floyd/Yes crowd and the New Wave that rose up against it. There was a definite them and us situation between our year at school and the previous year. I'm still too affected to listen to Pink Floyd and the like Before New Wave hit, I had gone back to the 60s and early 70s for Beatles/Stones/Faces for the majority of my listening.
  4. Maybe not, but I know what you mean. Don't put your back out reaching some of those pots near the back.
  5. Wanted: Man with broken hand. Must be able to snear. Hatred for the English and/or Russians a plus. Napoleon Bonaparte impersonator?
  6. If that were to happen, I would have to stay the week. Have you seen this yet:- http://www.hardlystrictlybluegrass.com/200...gi?show=artists It's free you jammy buggers! Elvis C, Steve Earle, Gillian Welch, Billy Bragg, not to mention the reason I heard about it/mentioned it to you in the first place: EMMYLOU. That would be some week. Rocket fuel for the soul. I have been swooning over some of the hard copy photos from Cambridge that arrived today.
  7. It would be an insult to the sport? Any event has to be pretty dull that you have to resort to a Mexican Wave (called that here too - probably because it was first widely seen at the Mexico World Cup in 84?). I'd say generally you wouldn't want to knock over an Aussie Rules fan's pint. Never seen one at a rugby match either.
  8. What about the national sport? Can a Welshman be a pom? When I'm in full on rugby mode, just the word "English" is enough of an insult. Heard last November in the stands: "Is the ref English?" "No, he's South African" "Well he's acting like a f__king Englishman!"
  9. Ms Y, I think you missed this during your enforced sabbatical:- http://archive.viachicago.org/index.php?showtopic=22803 There are a few YouTube goodies posted half way through the thread, but some seem to have been removed. Thank goodness this survives:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEe40SJtQns...athan%20richman We kept you a piece of cake from the party for a while, but the birds had it in the end.
  10. Sylvia Plath is doing it for me off the Gold album. A couple of formulaic rockers, but generally I think
  11. (It's not this exact one, I couldn't find it - but you get the idea) I need to do this every so often. Lots of fascists to fight in the City!
  12. I'll see what that same record shop has tomorrow
  13. Love Is Hell That was the first one and put me off for a long time to be honest. From that I could not see what all the fuss was about. Gold I like alot more, but would not count myself a real fan yet.
  14. Got Gold for a fiver this morning. Only the second album of his I've heard
  15. And remember, "make sure they are so firm they do not wobble"! I was indeed surprised at how much it could hold.
  16. His dog was called Shep. There was near mass hysteria on a Princess Diana scale when Shep passed away.
  17. Now there leaves are falling, it's time to make one of these for the garden For 48 years the Blue Peter kids TV show has been showing how to make do, in between looking after pets and parachuting. It's all a bit high tech now. In my day it was all old toilet rolls and cellotape. Catch-phrase: "Here's one I made earlier", as the presenter slowly got entangled in a mess of glue and crepe paper. It used to go out live, so was funny to watch the cock-ups. And where would we be without the perennial favourite the Blue Peter advent crown:- The BBC has always refused to release figures on h
  18. Had this view every morning while the Waterloo & City line was being repaired this summer, and on nice days I think I'll keep walking through the winter. Hope London was kind to you.
  19. I've never really gone for the larger man before, but I think I love you.
  20. from http://wilcoworld.net/news/index.php and/or http://stores.musictoday.com/store/dept.as...9513&sfid=2 I suppose One By One and California Stars are the two. Perhaps they don't count songs which aren't shown as in concert performances. And thanks for spotting that and posting a few days ago
  21. You can steal all the stationary you want !!!
  22. Good choice! Nowhere need as raucous, but if you want another recommendation for something a bit on the fiddle/irish/folk-rock side, try Fisherman's Blues by the Waterboys.
