You do know that that's a euphemism in English slang don't you? No, not really. But if he was going to see a man about a dog, that would mean he was going for a slash i.e. take a leak, to come full circle in La Ronde style, to the original topic.

Also: Hollies? Ouch!

With phone number?

I wonder if Kew has a special man who has to go around sporadically taking a leak in the gardens. Maybe they just leave it up to visitors who get caught short to do it for them. All good gardens need that don't they?

Bit more here http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/5361396.stm (with pic of one of the plants)

I had to correct that, since it is a favourite saying of mine. Plus I don't often get the chance to correct you. EDIT - News for yuo - 200 year old seeds germinated at Kew today (it was on the radio). Can't remember what type of plant. I know tulips, daffodils, roses, lilies, grass, err, that's about it.

Saw him for precisely 3 seconds in the summer supporting Elbow. He 'sang' "Thanks, and goodnight". I was late getting there after being caught up in a rugby convo in the pub.

Glad you enjoyed it. This morning I doscovered that CD Times is now defunct Have you got another outlet for you reviews (apart from your blog)? EDIT - cancel that - I had typed .com not .co.uk

Baggy Trousers sums up my schooldays. After that it was all a bit downhill for Madness though. Still, the early nutty sound was great.

I started with Feast of Wire after some mention of it here about 18 months ago. That alone was enough to make me respect them. Then I bought Garden Ruin. That's it - time and finance allowing I should progress further. Seen bits and pieces of other stuff on YouTube. They seem to have quite alot of EPs also (some only sold on tour). One has their great version of Alone Again Or. I seem to remember WildMercurySound (a big fan of theirs) putting up a mix once - but I don't do downloads.

That you'll be busy each night of the week except Sunday?
-
That could come in handy when cleaning round the U-bend.
-
Yup. Hope that 2 support acts (can't remember the other one) doesn't mean that they'll be on extra late (Sunday - trains - etc.).

It took a while, but I generally got a silent roll of the eyes now. That's fine with me. Say hello to Thomas C for me (and not like your mates did after the Wales France game )

Not sure. Maybe that was someone later. AMan might know.

Autumn Almanac - Kinks (Bit obvious, but there you go) I Smell Winter - Housemartins That song Justin Hayward sang on the War of the Worlds concept album (somehow evocative and in my memory, not particularly favourite) Van Occupanther - Midlake (Just curl up somewhere cosy listening to this) Ne Me Quitte Pas - Jacques Brel (Just sad - like the onset of autumn)

Not so sure about the looking forward - what with the catalogue of injuries ... Also, November 3rd - JPR doing a book signing just around the corner. I'll try to shoulder charge him on his way up the stairs (I know where they hide them in the book shop until they come out to do their bit). I expect to be at the bottom of the stairs shortly afterwards, but it must be done.

Just found out that Beirut are one of the supports for the London show (think all the UK shows). Not too bothered myself from what I've heard, but I know some here like them/him.

I suppose wasps are the exception that proves the rule.

Second rendezvous completed. Surrogate hugs transfered as ordered (for Donna, stiff upper lip protocol won't allow man-man hugs). Tom given several 'best of British' CDs, including All Mod Cons by The Jam, Fisherman's Blues by the Waterboys, and a Beautiful South compilation. This should should set him straight on a couple of things. Some exposure to the Jam should put an end to some of his rather worrying positive references to Green Day at least.

One of my thoughts exactly. The silence at the right times during the London solo show was one of the things that made it magical for me. The other thought was: half the trailer seems to be aimless camera poking out the car/bus window footage. Not very inspiring/original. Anyway, I suppose I'll get suckered in around Christmas time.

That's the sort of info that keeps me coming back to VC.
