  2. It was televised here, so you may be able to find some footage shortly. Two nights of up to three channels of coverage on the BBC - Reading and Leeds festivals. I loved Jet (simple solid rock and a great voice from the lead singer - AMan would go for them live if he's a Crows fan) and Larrikin Love - a Levellers/Madness/Pulp mix of eccentricity. Arctic Monkeys impressed too. I am won over on them because of the early Who/Jam similarities I see, and the lyrics/sensibilities are much more where I'm coming from (can't identify with a young US band singing about growing up on the West coast, say -

  6. You can get a faster train to Brussels (EuroStar - same as for the Paris route) and maybe travel on from there? Is that any better? EasyJet run planes from Stanstead to Amsterdam I believe, and Stanstead would be easier to get to from Milton Keynes that having to go to Heathrow. What with the extra security checks lately that could add an hour onto your plane journey since you would have to arrive earlier. The only time I was in Holland we were driving around for a long weekend after flying to Eindhoven (also from Stanstead with RyanAir), so only had a day in Amsterdam. Never really went to
  7. Err.. if it really bothers you I can make a change. It's just a bit of therapy for any musical elitists. A complete lack of embarasement is quite liberating, and some have a certain nostalgia value. As has sometimes been discussed, for the older people here when AM radio ruled (probably even more so in the UK where there was only 1 national 'pop' station for years and years), we all shared a common musical landscape, good and bad. (And some are so bad they're good - at least now that some time has passed) That's the weirdest looking yak I've seen yet.
  8. That's too deep for me. How about "I lost my heart to a Starship Trooper" youtube.com/watch?v=obZszOco-m8
  9. That's right Sister! Charlatans and blasphemers of the way of Jeff - repent! You still have time to reject this foul heresy of delusion and sin! Return to the way of Geoff! This is the true path of righteousness and redemption! Let the scales fall from your eyes and see through this sham! Make your grotto a place of true gladness not false faith! One of these verses nearly made the title, with the subtle twist being that I actually love this song:- My papa was a great old man, I can see him with a shovel in his hand See, education he never had, But he did wonders when the times got bad Two days later papa passed away, I became a man that day So I told mama I was gonna quit school, But she said that was daddy's strictest rule So every morning 'fore I went to school I fed the chickens and I chopped wood too Sometimes I felt that I couldn't go on I wanted to leave and run away from home But I always remembered what my daddy sa
