  1. Pant, pant, pant, ... it's ..... Book in the offing. Some snippets in the paper:- http://www.telegraph.co.uk/arts/main.jhtml...1/svpalin01.xml http://www.telegraph.co.uk/arts/main.jhtml....xml&page=1
  2. In 1920 the king of Greece died after being bitten by his pet monkey.
  3. They've got No 1 single and album over here. The single is pure pop, but I think that the general consensus is that this time around they are trying too hard and everything is a bit formulaic. I have not heard the album - just going on reviews and stuff I've seen. Still seems to be selling bucketloads though. I liked about 2 or 3 tracks off the first album. Nothing wrong with a frivolous good time night out, but I would have a better time with Jenny Lewis myself.
  4. Been there, done that. Err, I mean, not the llama.
  5. What's that - a German trying to cash in on the Guinness trade? Anyway, Damien Dempsey = solid stuff
  6. That would be jumping on the bandwagon a bit. As George Bush observed during the 2000 presidential campaign: "I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully."

  8. I will look out for this. I always thought Tusk was a brave departure and liked it whilst being mainly caught up in New Wave at the time.
  9. 664 - the neighbour of the beast
  10. This sort of poster? That is smart (and I say that as someone who really doesn't generally get worked up about concert posters). Some more evidence for the optimistic:- I have seem one web site listing it as 'Islington' now, so just maybe I was right. You geographically challenged Americans!
  11. Good one! Shame about the abbreviated set Thanks for the report! I'll try and see if he remembers you, though what with needing to beat the public transport curfews, I've never actually hung around to meet anyone after a show. Must brush up on my charades * if talking is a no-no. Maybe if I bring two pairs of flags we can do semaphore. * I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue is a long-time favourite of mine. I think any JoJo fan would would be on the same wavelength. Well someone's got my money, though I haven't got a ticket yet. Union Chapel - it's still listed here http://www.unionc
  12. Funnily enough, that's the first place that came in to my head when I started reading, but I never thought it would actually be in the list. There was another place I used to frequent too, but I can't remember the name now. They don't mention the Hayes/David Morgans redevelopment, so maybe it will survive. A while ago I was browsing the Rough Trade website and they had a selection on 'celebrity shoppers' - staff remembering incidents through the years. I can't find it now, but the best one was a young over-zealous guy on the counter being stopped in his tracks by a surly Van Morrison replyin
  13. This was introduced as a 'new song' when I saw her, and was possibly my favourite of the night. Like you said, there's plenty to anticipate for a follow up album.
  14. I couldn't believe my eyes - a solid lineout! Whatever next? Blair looks like the assured sort of player we need. Saw Llanelli on digital BBC2 yesterday also, but that was a game of fits and starts. Apparently Cardiff at Saracens will be shown the same way next Sunday - 'BBC2 digital interactive' - press red button when at normal digital BBC2.
  15. I know what you're going through. Try and keep it together for your Dad's sake, and seek comfort in your family and the fond memories. Andrew
  16. Wow, that's like a critical mass of pre-performance nerves. I feel anxious myself just thinking about it
  17. I think it was. It's certainly not the show it was without Simon what's his face. I'm lucky if I scan it whilst having a Saturday morning cuppa. NP:
  18. Saw half of them on some TV interview the other day. They seemed so dull and lifeless I have no desire to pursue their music any further than the roughly a third of the first album that was borderline OK for me. P.S. Any personel epiphany on the Midlake issue whilst on holiday?
  19. The first I've never heard of, the second seemed like alot of fun live (judging by TV festival coverage this summer - occassional Mum on spoons!) but I'm not sure how well it would translate to the staid confines of an album. I actually just missed them after the VC Elbow Summit in March made it late out from the pub (they were first in a 4 act night).
  20. Sure it wasn't just a nine beat count-in? Also, how was MMJ at the Astoria - weren't you planning on going?
