Doom and gloom in the valleys as 2 of our key individuals are crocked for the tournament during the last warm up game. The only positive is that it allows us to retain our transitional underdog mentality, but I do not expect the tournament to be quite what we were hoping for now. The best scrum half in the 6 nations out, and while there's an argument for saying that Dan Biggar can cover for the place kicking and Liam Williams is a more incisive attacking full back, he would have been better replacing the dreadful Cuthbert on the wing, and overall the strength in depth of our limited resources

The thread where I try to spread the gospel but get ignored. But I must fight the good fight. Just going to park it for now. BTW I believe that Australia are playing the USA in a warm up game next weekend in Chicago. So, just to get the juices flowing, here's a taste of what's at stake in the Group of Death featuring Wales, England and Australia (not to mention Fiji who might cause an upset in a match or two):- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AM4mIlYKG9s And if you ever wondered why the All Blacks are such a rugby machine, they start them young with the right attitude:- https://www.y

I wonder how much of Star Wars was actually the second TWEEDY album that had been described as already being in the can. Taste The Ceiling certainly seems like a good bet. I'm hoping for further confounding of the established marketing strategies by having a seond Wilco album appear before Christmas

Sorry it spoilt your show, but the whole surreal "Where's our spoon" thing made my laugh for some reason. -

That was the first thing that came into my mind when I read the full report. How do you do it? I did see that film when I was a kid in a cinema - though until now I had no idea Kurt Russel was in it. -

Just started wondering if Magnetized is the first Wilco song title that is spelt wrongly - unless they're doing a Slade. -

So Keith is slagging off Sgt Pepper. Has he never listed to Their Satanic Majesties Request?

Indeed. A nice bit of Test Match Special through the earphones at work. I prefer listening to cricket with the TMS team to actually watching it. 18.3 overs is the quickest any team have ever been bowled out in the first innings of a test match. I do have a soft spot for their old school 'baggy green' though. In other news, there's a tasty group in the upcoming rugby world cup containing England, Australia, and Wales. Only two go through. -

The year 's at the spring, And day 's at the morn; Morning 's at seven; The hill-side 's dew-pearl'd; The lark 's on the wing; The snail 's on the thorn; God 's in His heaven— All 's right with the world! EDIT: Their Aussie roaddie is going to wake up sick as a dog. Australia 50 for 9 at Trent Bridge! Now 60 all out. Crazy morning. -
Far From The Madding Crowd The 1967 version, was suprised to hear only yesterday that there is a new version. Watched as there was a synchronicity between it appearing on iPlayer and recent visits to some of the locations - not that I knew that at the time except for Maiden Castle. Only a dim memory of once having seen it decades ago, and some JC high cheek bone action is always welcome.

Cordon - Belgium plague outbreak thriller. Half way through and ratcheting up the tension nicely without going all zombie apocalypse immediately. Humans - nicely done sci fi set in a hear future (i.e. saving on production costs) where 'synths' have been introduced. Just ended, but apparently there is to be a second series - which in 90% of cases means an extending and petering out of the main storyline beyond what would have been the correct timely ending of the original idea.

I think it's this:- Although my immediate thought was of Tim Roth in Mike Leigh's Meantime (after his drastic haircut) - see the 1 minute mark in this trailer - which has the most inappropriate 'Hollywood' voiceover you could possibly imagine. Aah the eighties in the UK ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Llcgzs1jNOM

Only discovered this lovely demo version today when searching on hearing the news. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVMel5gS84Y I love classic 60s pop, and so have always had Cilla's big hits in my head every since hearing them as a kid. She was a great likeable TV host in the 80s and 90s too once the singing career was more or less over with typical Scouse warmth and humour. http://youtu.be/ypSjcEvqmjM

Ditto. The only downside was that the video was so good I was distracted from actually listening to the music. Will do it again with my eyes closed.
