I'll probably try & sneak a few in, & all Beatles me thinks...today I submitted "And Your Bird Can Sing" Thinking next might be "It's All Too Much"...then I've kind of narrowed it down to "Julia", "Across The Universe" & "Two Of Us"- which I think I can sneak in on some library computers (it's all in fun & I think they are just looking for whatever seems rightest to them amidst the entries- good fun reading them all I imagine)... I know that Nels put "Paperback Writer" b/w "Rain" in his 5 favorite singles list in that Wilco '09 Tour Book, & I think I'd go for "Rain" from th

Copied & pasted from post #291 in this thread... 2013 Solid Sound Festival Takes Leaf from Wonka's Book with Golden Ticket Contest Anyone who has ever attended the Solid Sound Festival knows the parallels to Willy Wonka's famed mythical chocolate factory are easy to draw. The Wilco-created three-day festival takes place June 21-23 at the playfully exotic MASS MoCA, a large-scale contemporary art museum in North Adams, MA. Over three days and nights, alongside a full and varied program of live music and comedy, festival-goers can stargaze with a noted astronomer, learn to restore an ax

Turns out Annick also left me a message at home earlier (we ended up talking to each other, not each other's machines, from my office later in the day), & it was in fact the temperature issues. They said the shipping costs would have gotten ridiculous & it just become unfeasible.
-
Details...they tried some extreme temp protecting measures (like what your suggesting), but...The Wilco Store is in North Carolina, & they were looking at the bars having to go from NYC to there & then out across to country to places that were either farther away, or more temp sensitive, or both, etc., etc. ...so they just figured it was logistically not going to work...too much risk of too many Choconauts not surviving their respective missions to the Planet California or the deeper southern recesses of the Planet Texas etc., etc..... I'm pretty sure it was more about temp than bre

OK the mystery of the Golden Ticketed Chocolate Bars & The Wilco Store (online) selling them has been solved. I just spoke to the always helpful, kind & articulate Annick & she filled me in thusly... They were briefly up on the home page & at the end of the article, but they were removed from the article & website, (they are still listed at the end of the video) because... Three experimental chocolate bars were mailed to The Wilco Store & they did not survive the mission...so they aren't able to be mailed safely... The good news is that none of the three were golden tic

It was right on the front page (when you first go on the website & they have one item from various areas- 3 wide/across/horizontal & 6 deep/going down/vertical), can't recall what heading it was listed under...tried searching for it & couldn't find it... "The Wilco Store (online)" is still listed in the video...I'm betting they will either be available from The Wilco Store or the Solid Sound website...and if we don't see 'em up on Monday, I'll call & find out what the deal is...

File Under: Both- Just when you thought you couldn't love Wilco anymore than you already do...and...just when you thought Solid Sound couldn't get any cooler... I LOVE this idea...so much so that I'm planning on buying a few bars to open with friends, mostly just for the fun of it (well, that & somewhat for the delicious chocolate)...Yeah it's a little expensive, but better chocolate can cost $3-5 a bar already, & I love supporting the idea of the creativity, fun & playfulness being presented here...what a cool thing to share with everyone!! Oddly though...The Wilco Store was liste

It is a totally amazing song & a show stopper performance wise to this day... Most of you probably already know about this, but this is the song ("Amphetamine" by Peter Laughner) that was the inspiration for starting up what became "Misunderstood"...as much as I love Peter Laughner, I think the Wilco song is certainly the greater achievement...though they both have their own charms...and this song itself was inspired by "Heroin" by The Velvet Underground...Peter was pretty fanatical about Lou Reed, Television and all projects involving Richard Thompson...

That's totally incredible...and some surprises... First up is midnight movie madness, eh? The Yo La Tengo soundtrack to the Buckminster Fuller documentary is taking place after Wilco plays on Friday... Wilco is scheduled to play 2 hours on Friday & 2 & 1/2 hours on Saturday- yay & rah and yayer & raher...also...on the official Wilco website they are also taking requests for Sunday, so one can hope that there might be an unscheduled Fest ending final & third Wilco set...unlikely I know, but I just said one can hope is all... I know it's only a 15 min. difference & also k

I'd guess Nels, but...any instrument could sub...as suggested a keyboard setting...a Jerry Jones electric sitar...or just play it on guitar...I'd love to hear it, but I don't think it'll be my final choice (just one I'd love to hear, & that crossed my mind), or that they'd choose it even if it was...

Still haven't made my choice yet for my specific Solid Sound Friday night request, but it'll be narrowed down amongst many Beatles possibilities, & probably this week (leading contenders are: "Across The Universe", "Julia", "It's All Too Much", "Here Comes The Sun", "Mother Nature's Son", "And Your Bird Can Sing", "The Word", "Tomorrow Never Knows", "In My Life", "Two Of Us", "Long, Long, Long", "You Never Give Me Your Money", "Blackbird", "Strawberry Fields Forever", "I've Just Seen A Face", "Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except For Me & My Monkey", "Rain", "All Things Must Pass",

I doubt it's anything more than a mis-posting, wherein someone on the Wilco staff accidentally put down all 3 nights of Solid Sound, with the accompanying "request a song" attachment possibilities, but...they did...and they are all up there... Of course it would be amazing if they ended up playing all 3 days, but...it does give a chance for anyone to just load up whatever requests... I'm going for "Sunloathe" for the Friday show, as are others here, as it's currently the lone unplayed live song from their regular album catalog...and it deserves it's debut somewhere special at this point (and I

I just called the enthusiastic & helpful Emily at the Nelsonville Fest & she let me know that Wilco will be going on plenty late on Saturday...they are scheduled, if everything runs on time, to start at 10:00 p.m., and they are allowed to play as long as they want to. So I really hope that works out for you & is some good news!! Hope to be enjoying Wilco with you that night- good luck with your schedule working out for it!
-
Most recent details about the schedule...Wilco has been allotted up to 150 minutes (2 & 1/2 hours) for their closing set on Saturday night. Mavis Staples plays right before them...so I'm hoping that Jeff might join her for something & she might join them for something...and Michael Hurley on all 4 days!! Wa-Hoo Hurley- that is truly great news! 2013 Day Schedule THURSDAY, MAY 30 Gogol Bordello Michael Hurley Old Light Screaming Females Wild Belle FRIDAY, MAY 31 Cat Power The Coup Reigning Sound Anais Mitchell & Jefferson Hamer He's My Brother, She's My Sister Michael Hurley Old

I spoke to someone directly, who then checked with the heads of the whole thing & called me back, specifically about Wilco. They are still firming things up...but...from all I was told, Wilco is THE headliner on Saturday, playing last & they've allotted 150 minutes for them to play, if needed. I also believe, if I am remembering correctly, that Mavis Staples will be preceeding them...which also leads me to believe there's a good chance we'll see Jeff on during her set, & her on during Wilco's set. So, yeah, they are still working out the finer details, but... I was assured about th

Try & contact the Festival...and I'd really recommend that... I'm going to Nelsonville, partly because the Fest looks great (& I've got other business around that area & that was a great way to handle biz with a dose of pleasure), but also because the Festival organizers assured me that Wilco is getting to play a full 2 & 1/2 hours if they want it. I went to Philly/Camden last year where they barely played 90 min. & that was a drive to see a truncated "Festival" length set...sometimes Fest & Casino shows are full length & great & sometimes they are abbreviated..

tough no more...I got my tickets today!! Anyone else going?

If that was the case I'd be at both the Toronto show & even Darien Lake...if only...as it is a couple friends & I have decided to just watch the reports as they come in about set lists & set lengths & then check out what tickets are available, and for how much a couple of days before the Toronto show...

Sounds even more amazing now!! Wilco-Crafted Installations Set for SOLID SOUND 2013, 6/21-23FeedbackPrintE-mail Thursday, Apr, 25, 2013; 8:58 PM; - by Music News DeskRelated: Wilco, Solid Sound 2013, MASS MoCA Continuing the tradition of creating new and exclusive artistic expressions as part of Solid Sound, several Wilco band members will premiere creative endeavors for this year's festival, taking place June 21-23 at MASS MoCA in North Adams, MA. The first, created by Wilco's Jeff Tweedy, is a simulated sonic and visual experience of Wilco's Chicago s

How about re-doing the poll with more choices & links to be able to hear the songs? From the choices it's pretty hard to choose between "Waterloo" & "Take A Chance On Me", & for the record, I'd take both over "S.O.S."- which is great, don't me wrong...but...I can say I love this weird little deep cut (from the "Waterloo") album as much as any track they ever did... To Lotti, with Luv "Suzy-Hang-Around"!!

Actually what I wrote wasn't in response to you...so I wasn't directing that bit about not owing anybody anything at you, or trying to say you insinuated that- which I don't think you did. I was almost done writing my post, when yours popped up... And...I agree with you that the whole avoiding his gaze, & extremity of some of the stuff that's purported, if true, does seem a bit eccentric, unpalatable, & well, just extreme...that aside, I stand by the Spirit of the rest of what I said about anyone's right to avoid that weirdness of celebrity as much as they want to/can...

Right on for both points here... 1) Yeah anything that gets Wilco exposed to more potential folks is alright by me & then some...and this tour is doing that for both Wilco & Richard Thompson, who I adore at about the same level of passion. I'd love to see the gang get some $ to up their instrument & equipment collections, and/or kids college funds/retirement cache... 2) Dylan has attracted some real challenging fans over the years (A.J. Weberman anyone? Or check out some of his early press conferences- think it's the one in S.F. where the guy asking him about the significance of

The pre-sales for anything I could make are 4/30, with the general public on sale 5/3 & 5/4. I'm now about 50/50 on the fence about this...especially after reading a negative post here about the venue for Toronto. For me it's a little tough to justify the cost for 60 minutes of Wilco & maybe 30 minutes of Richard Thompson. While I love Dylan, & he was great the last time I saw him, he figures into the equation, but precious little at this point...and MMJ are neutral at best, & another clock eating factor that matters to me about as much as watching the set changes between bands
