  1. Most important, of course, will be "W for Wilco", & hopefully either "J, or T, for Jeff Tweedy", but, I'm also hoping & holding out for "Y For Yo La Tengo"!! I just saw them in both Cleveland & Toronto & they were absolutely amazing! They truly are my second fave band in the world, live & otherwise, next to Wilco. Having them at Solid Sound 2013 would be a dream bill come true. Either that or having them added to the Nelsonville Fest (though Yo La Tengo & The Flaming Lips were both at that Fest in 2010). Yo La Tengo are touring throughout this year, and the last date up
  2. On facebook this was the full announcement... "Solid Sound lineup announcement starts today at Noon Eastern. We'll announce the artists and activities of Solid Sound 2013, in alphabetical order, one letter at a time, every 30 minutes -- that'll be from Noon to 5:30pm today and 10am to 4:30pm tomorrow. Follow us here and on Twitter (@SolidSoundFest) for that latest updates."
  3. It's all good...gotta buy the tickets early & I'm gonna buy the early ticket for 10:45...if I have to do the 12:00 bus it's just a $20 rescheduling fee is all...and man if started at 7:30 & played until something like 10:30...holy cow, it'd be worth the $20 for sure...I'm betting it'll work out OK & that I'll actually probably make the bus on time, but I'm not gonna sweat it. And thanks for the feedback.
  4. I'm wondering if anyone who has gone in the past years can tell me about how long these shows usually run on any given night? It's looking to me like around a 30 song setlist (give or take), so I'm guessing that's roughly 2 to 2 & 1/2 hours? And my other question is does it usually start pretty much at the advertised time, or not? It's advertised as a 7:30 start this year. If anyone has files of the shows & can take a look at the length of those, I'd be very grateful, just to have an idea. I decided to fly in from Buffalo, but have to take the bus back. I decided to fly in, but have to
  5. Well for what it's worth Wilco have been given 2 & 1/2 hours for their headlining set on Saturday & while the schedule isn't out yet, Mavis Staples will play right before Wilco on Saturday...and both John Prine & Jonathan Richman are playing on Sunday...this is a tough one...
  6. I'm south of Rochester, so after that city & Buffalo or Syracuse...Toronto is the next closest, followed by Cleveland & Pittsburgh...then NYC, Philly, Detroit, etc. ...so I probably be hitting Toronto & Cleveland too, if they make it those stops next tour...
  7. you're fast on the draw there Texas...nice shootin'... still hoping for some archival releases someday...thought they'd be starting like nowsville...
  8. I saw them in Detroit in Dec. 2011, so they hit Michigan last tour at least at some point (on "The Whole Love" touring)- though I don't know if they did Mich. in 2012...(quicker doable drive when I go through Canada)...it's one of the shows I'd do again this year if possible...
  9. And Michael Hurley too!!! This is tough...since I'm going to the shows at the Vic, I was less likely to do this...but, ouch, this line-up (with more artists to be announced) is getting more & more substantial... It will depend on two things... 1) If I can find out if Wilco is playing a full set (27 songs/ 150 min.) or a truncated "festival set" (18 songs/ 90 min.) 2) Who is playing when? I can't do the whole 4 days I think it is...Wilco is on Saturday...so I could do either Fri. & Sat., or Sat. & Sun. But honestly with the new album coming out & tour dates a-plenty on the east
  10. Yeah, I'm hoping that we get the new album by Autumn, but at least by the holiday season, and then I think we'll get some tour dates in conjunction with that. I'm hoping for a nice east coast swing & being able to see a few shows with material from the new album at some point in later 2013...though you never know, we might luck out with debut of some new material at Solid Sound too! But I certainly think we'll have some tour dates around the Autumn/Winter...and, of course, since I'm willing to travel within that max. 6-7 hours, and anything 4-5 hours for sure, I'm pretty sure to be able to
  11. I think I might just be up for that. I didn't know if the Gold Circle tickets were in the pit, and having never been to the Vic, I didn't want to risk it, as sometimes getting pit tickets can mean you are craning your neck to look up, & the sound can be a little lesser too close up as well. If I see it's great to get Gold Circle seats (which I assume are also general admission within the Gold Circle section- is that right?), maybe I can try for it next year, if all goes well. But this time I just got regular tickets, which means... I may need to make an effort to get there earlier to get a
  12. Just a heads up...for some folks coming in from out of town, Fri. & Sat. is waaaaaay easier to pull off. I wasn't trying to complain, but I was surprised given past history of the shows & it looked, originally, like the weekday thing would knock me out of the running. Not so now...it appears that... I CAN DO THIS!! I think I've devised a way to make this work out!! Sadly the weeknight shows portion of the equation means that, unlike Solid Sound, I won't be traveling with anyone this time. But I am grateful to be going at all...and... that will involve... ~Two overnight bus rides of
  13. From Wilco on facebook- "New Neve console up and ready to make magic at the Loft. Well, not new -- just new to us." https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?...127996970420.136900.8290410420&type=1&theater
  14. Here's the extended version of The Flaming Lips Hyundai super bowl ad. With great irony & self-awareness of all the contradictions & downright distasteful stuff in our consumer crazed driven culture/"society of the spectacle", I can say, to the positive, that this is a great song, I love The Flaming Lips & for those two reasons alone it'll probably be my all-time favorite super bowl commercial (unless a band I love more, & there aren't many, makes one someday), and that, is sort of like being King or Queen of nothing. To the negative side, I'll let the sponsor speak for itself-
  15. Hey, I think it's great that it's being done...not sure who you are mysterious "srmt", but if you happen upon Mr. Tweedy in the near future let him know that the northeast would be real glad to see some solo shows at some point ...and thanks for your compassion & concern too. I was just cautiously hopeful that I might be able to actually do this this year. I'm sure it'll be a great time for all involved & I'm glad for those who can go & have a great time for a great cause!
  16. Heartbreaking to have them in the middle of the week. I went back & found ever other year has been a Friday & Saturday- which is something I could manage, but coming from Rochester, NY to Chicago I'd really have to do a train & there is just no way to make this work for me...this year. I'm sure I'll get there some year...maybe next year! And I look forward to hitting a long Chicago multiple night Wilco residency someday as well. Hopefully Jeff will play solo somewhere in the northeast this next year- maybe Solid Sound!!
  17. Below is a quote from an archived 2209 Tweedy interview in Uncut magazine that was just re-posted, but it references next month's issue which features Tweedy talking about the new album they are currently recording. That's why they aren't doing as many live dates in 2013- though I'm hoping for a later 2013 album release & some late in the year tour dates to follow!! Elsewhere I read that Tweedy noted that he had between 3 dozen & 100 song ideas/fragments laying about that they were working on. This is from another thread here, but I thought I'd move the info into this thread. "Wilco fr
  18. Hopefully there will be plenty more tour dates added soon enough...The dates in the U.S. involve them playing with The Black Keys...I can' yet fully suss out whether or not it's a joint headlining tour (I've read that), or if The Flaming Lips are the "special guest" opening act for The Black Keys. I like The Black Keys, but not like I love The Flaming Lips & Pittsburgh is well within my reach road trip wise, but I won't be oding it if they are merely the opening act. The Flaming Lips 2013 Tour Dates: March 29 – Sau Paulo, BR @ Lollapalooza Brazil 30 – Sau Paulo, BR @ Lollapalooza Brazil 31

  20. Here's the premiere of the great new bonus track for the new Flaming Lips album!! It won't be on the regular hard copies of "The Terror" (their new album due out April 1st & 2nd, 2013 worldwide), but will be included on the digital download version & Hyundai, yes the car company, will be giving away 100,000 free downloads, because, get this...it will also be featured as part of a Flaming Lips Hyundai Superbowl ad (for it's "Sante Fe" neo-SUV)...as much as I have mixed feelings about these sorts of things, at least the company is really trying to do something decent for the band- rea
  21. http://flaminglips.com/news/s/1946/the-flaming-lips-unleash-the-terror-on-april-2nd!/ The Flaming Lips Unleash The Terror on April 2nd! posted by wb - Jan 24, 2013The Flaming Lips will release their thirteenth studio album titled, The Terror, on April 2nd in the US and April 1st in Europe. It is comprised of nine original compositions that reflect a darker-hued spectrum than previous works, along with a more inward-looking lyrical perspective than one might expect — but then again, maybe not. It’s up to you, the listener, to decide what it means to you. Wayne Coyne explains, “Why would w
  22. the NYC shows are #3, #4 & #5 with the Terminal 5 show being #5....the Wolftrap show is #10. N-Joy!!
  23. Can't believe I forgot to mention seeing Sufjan Stevens in "The Surfjohn Stevens Christmas Sing-A-Long Seasonal Affective Disorder Yuletide Disaster Pageant On Ice" at Babeville in Buffalo, N.Y.. It was up there with the very, very best of the non-Wilco shows that I saw last year...but...honestly if I had to choose a top 5 shows, they'd all be Wilco shows with everyone coming in after that...
  24. The new Yo La Tengo album "Fade", due out Tues. Jan. 15th is available to listen to, in it's entirety, streaming online now...at the link below! N-Joy!...and yes, it's great! http://pitchfork.com/advance/1-fade/
  25. Honestly I recommend that you go by what setlist, or setlists excite you the most...I've heard almost of all of these, & saw them 10 times over the last year or so (5 of those gigs have ended up as Roadcase shows), & can say that the shows I saw & have heard were of such generally great quality that I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. I like the idea of getting all 3 of the NYC shows- as it ends up giving you 63 different songs over the course of three nights...so you get 27 songs a night...with 9 repeats & 18 that weren't played at either of the other two shows.
