  1. Wow- good eye! I'll have to update my original post!! It would fall into the last group, played just below ten times (this was the 9th)...making it about the same as "Sunken Treasure" & a bit rarer than "I Must Be High", but in that group... Here's the Rock Geek website with all the info... http://www.setlist.f...o-23d6982b.html and here's the 2012 tour stats from the same page... http://www.setlist.f....html?year=2012
  2. Oops I corrected my original post that you quoted "I'd say that quartet is a nice crop of pretty deep cuts..." to say "quintet" not "quartet", but it could of been "Octet" really...ironically you're quote of my post doesn't show up when I quote your post...& thanks to "The Inside of Outside" for pointing out that "Wishful Thinking" should be added into the last group here... So almost 1/3 of the set was fairly deep, more rarely played tracks...nice... 1) the rarest: "Christ For President", " Nothingsevergonnastandinmyway(again)" & "Either Way"- any of them 2 times this year... 2) sti
  3. The nice thing is, correct if I'm wrong here...a tour of Australia & New Zealand could be a fairly brief thing... I see five cities above a million (two over 4 million, another over 2 million), another two at 500,000 & another 4 or 5 at 250,000. In New Zealand there's just one over a million, & two over 350,00. While I'm less sure of the logistics, & their popularity there...maybe a city or two with multiple shows, or not. But I'm thinking two weeks tops, & if you want to, you can get it all done in a week. That'd be a nice little jaunt to keep the live aspect all well oile
  4. Great set list... as far as surprises go..."Christ For President", " Nothingsevergonnastandinmyway(again)" (got to see it the 2nd night in Brooklyn) & "Either Way" (got it at Cooperstown) haven't appeared much at all (a couple times each) this year... & "Company In My Back" & "Passenger Side" (saw it at the Manhattan gig) have appeared less than half a dozen times this year as well, so I'd say that quintet is a nice crop of pretty deep cuts... You could really make a case for a Septet of rarer songs when you also include "Sunken Treasure" (saw it in Cooperstown & 1st night in B
  5. VERY interested to hear if there were any surprises at tonight's neighborhood gig...
  6. I'll have to go back & find the names they post under here again, but I met great people via Wilco & two that are real good friends who live right near me who post here, & another was a wonderful guy who I'll be I'll meet up with again who I went to a show with via hooking up here for tickets... The one I met first happened as I was going to my first Wilco show in Detroit last December. I was going to go with an friend who now lives in Buffalo (happily he just saw the Rochester show with me), but he hurt his back & couldn't make the trip. I had a chance to go, via a cheap stubh
  7. Looking back I don't anyone specifically mentioned doing older shows- I think this is all assumption (by myself included)...but...when you consider that they don't have that many shows left this year...& they are supposedly taking next year (mostly) off from touring to record a new album...then it seems likely that "many more to come" would probably mean that they will be dipping into the past over the time they are recording the new album...and maybe that's not what it means, & I'm wrong, but I think they'll eventually start delving into older shows- I can't imagine why they wouldn't.
  8. I had a nice synchronistic experience with "What A Light". I'm a Mystic of the all-faiths variety- not religious at all, but deeply Spiritual. I recently had to move due to my landlords breaking an agreement we had that, after a 1 year lease was completed, that I would be able to rent there on a month by month basis, for as long as I needed, until I found a house to buy. It's a long, ugly sad story of the greed of rural slumlords...they were such terrible landlords that it's not the worst thing to have them in my rear view mirror, but it cost me money & made for a stressful housing search.
  9. In order... 1) New Madrid 2) Acuff-Rose 3)The Long Cut Honorable Mention: We've Been Had
  10. I wasn't at Vermont (& I'm just about to finally get to listen to the show that I downloaded earlier, right now in fact as I just got back home- already checked Rochester out & it's a great as I remember it being), but I can tell you that I not only thought Rochester was a fantastic gig (performance & sound fidelity wise), & so did the many faithful...but...there were a number of first timers at that show who came away slack jawed & trout mouthed, as they say... Interesting that the shows that I thought had the best sound overall, Hartford, CT & then the best outdoor s

  16. I had to look it up, via google, but it was... Crosby, Stills & Nash in Buffalo, N.Y., on July 16th, 1978 with my cousin Larry & the girl down the road, Claire...
  17. First ones bought for me- "The Monkees Greatest Hits" & "Headquarters" by The Monkees...from my mom- we went to W.T. Grant's to get them...it was '67, or '68...I was born in April 1964. Then I was given "Rubber Soul" (U.S. version & I inherited the version my mom had bought for my cousins & left it at my grandma's so they had something to listen to at her house), & I spent my allowance savings on "Revolver" (U.S.), again in '67, or '68, just a couple of months after The Monkees albums...once again from W.T. Grants...
  18. I am a gigantic Nels Cline fan...but I can also say that I think Jeff Tweedy is the most underrated guitarist in modern music. He really has that Neil Young/Richard Lloyd (Television) type of vibe, that I adore, down pat & brings his own unique twist to it as well. I've read that Nels is a huge fan of his playing as well...in fact IIRC when Nels was originally approached about joining he didn't see the point, precisely because he was so impressed with Jeff's playing...What an amazing band history to have had some many incredible guitarists pass through it's ranks... Of course, he adds a lo

  20. Cam, while I won't send 'em all to hell...but I'm with you on this being an absolutely GREAT album!!! While it's not exactly a gold standard or anything, & all of this stuff is subjective...for all the grief this album gets here, the annual Village Voice Pazz & Jop Critic's Poll shows it did quite well with the major music critics...& overall it seems that it certainly didn't do bad with the critics, and/or public (very good sales Wilco wise), at large... For those interested here's how Wilco has fared over the years in that poll. I put in the first year of Son Volt's "Trace" as we

  24. Although this isn't an album...how about a little of the "Why rank 'em, when you can crank 'em?" medicine for what ails 'ya? Here's some fun for you... The whole enchilada is now up on youtube & weighing in at just under 90 minutes... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlxMbsauFtU ‎11 Aug 2012 / Rees-Haldern, Germany Haldern Festival 01 - Dawned On Me 02 - War On War 03 - I Might 04 - At Least That's What You Said 05 - I Am Trying to Break Your Heart 06 - One Wing 07 - Handshake Drugs 08 - Poor Places 09 - Art of Almost 10 - Standing O 11 - Hummingbird 12 - Impossible Germany 13 - Born Alone 1
  25. The line you quoted wasn't aimed at you, at all...it was just a simple generalization...that most folks prefer, & often strongly prefer, a few certain Wilco albums, & I think, like Beatles albums, that they are all of pretty great quality. I agree with you that "A Ghost Is Born" is amazing, & can see why it would be anyone's fave.
