See some of you soon! -
Graham Parker - Not quite as old as these other guys.

Actually CS & DH have remained really close friends for all of these years...they just stopped being romantically involved many, many years ago...and CS married a terrific ex-girlfriend of mine, & fine actress in her own right, Barbara Sicuranza. They are very happy with 2 terrific daughters & DH gets on great with CS, his wife of over ten years & their 2 kids. CS & I share a mutual fascination with all things mystical & magical & he's a really great guy, so we've always gotten on really well (she married Chris shortly after we broke up)...glad to have kept in touch -

Ummm, I think you mean the day after tomorrow...that is unless you're getting there to get in line a day early See you there at some point I imagine...looking forward to meeting some of the fellow faithful from here as well... -
And how!! Really hoping for an Abba song at Solid Sound for Lotti!

I'm sure you'll be able to find something within an hour's drive...I do believe "wilcome" is a great source of strategies & info for issues such as this...you might try messaging "wilcome" here on the forum & ask for help...but otherwise, use a little google & find out what towns are within an hour & start searching...I might be wrong, but I'd think something will turn up that can, at the very least, keep you from not having to go...

"Lotti" is the best poster in the history of posting. Since I learned the significance, I'm certainly thrilled to see "srmt" post here anytime the occasion arises, but "Lotti" is a one of kind thrill, & quite possible the most unique thing about this little neighborhood...outside of the music...

Yo La Tengo's WFMU fundraisers are always amazing...& I thought of that too when I read this... But...it's a little bit of that mixed with what Jeff does solo at those all request benefit shows (which are coming up next week...can't wait...)

Finally found one...apparently only 150 made (got #118 for those of you who are keeping score at home)...thanks ebay! This poster is my fave Wilco poster that I've ever seen & it comes from the same week that I saw them in Detroit (Dec. 10th at The Fillmore)... http://wilco.kungfustore.com/products/3289-crop-circles-poster-wil475

And I assume whoever the headliner is on Sunday gets something like the amount of time that Wilco gets as headliner on Fri. & Sat.? It's great that Yo La Tengo is playing at all. It's even better that they are playing two days in a row, with the film soundtrack & a regular set, but...amongst the embarrassment of riches that is this year's festival my only minor complaint is that Yo La Tengo isn't the closer on Sunday. As I've said here before their headlining show this year involves two sets- one ten song seated, mostly acoustic, a 30 min. break, & then a full, even longer, electri
-
To folks who've gone before...what are the longest sets that a non-headliner will play? I'm curious as to where, when & for how long Yo La Tengo might be playing on Saturday? I know there's inside & outside venues, etc. ... Any ideas...?
-
Good to know! I'm with you all the way, weather permitting, I'd much rather be outside for it too!!! I'm betting that it'll be sun above, & not stars, though...because if they are doing the film on the same day that they are performing their regular set (as was indicated on both the YLT & Matador records official sites), then I'm betting they do the film soundtrack first (whether this on Friday- as it says on the YLT website or Sunday- as it is listed on the Matador site, or even Saturday- since the folks at Matador said the schedule isn't finished yet)...but at this point, who knows i
-
Actually it does...it's on the far right hand side, & it still says Sunday. Yo La Tengo's official website also still contradicts this & says Friday. As far as the film soundtrack goes, I'm betting it's much more likely an inside showing. I saw it in Ithaca myself (at Cornell), and while it could be done outside, I doubt it. I think the film soundtrack will be played inside & their regular concert (whether it's on Friday or Sunday) will be outside.

I called Matador Records & this is the slightly confusing email I got back- "Hey! So according to the label heads, they performance dates haven't been announced yet so they could play any of the three festival days but there will only be one performance which will be announced soon. Have a great weekend!" I assume that this means that there is only day where they doing both of their two different performances (the live soundtrack & their regular set) on just one day. I REALLY hope that they are the Sunday headliner. I'll post here when I find out for sure what the deal is!!

This is from the official Yo La Tengo Website: Friday, June 21, 2013 Solid Sound festival, Mass MOCA, North Adams MAvenue website Festival takes place June 21-23. In addition to a regular Yo La Tengo set, there will also be a performance of “The Love Song of R. Buckminster Fuller” with Sam Green. It looks like, for better or worse, that YLT are playing on Friday at Solid Sound. It's not 100% confirmed, but it says so on their website...it also appears that they are playing the live soundtrack to the film that same Friday as well...sadly I'm betting that having them playing for the film, mean

I'm wish...but...I'm betting more like they'll do some festivals. We know the two shows at Solid Sound will be full sets, & I actually called the good folks at the Nelsonville Fest to confirm that they will be doing a full set there(they've been given a 2 & 1/2 hour slot to close Saturday night with), but I'm betting Boonaroo will be a shortened 90 minute "festival" length set... I'd love to have them play some more near where I am on the east coast, but I'm betting it'll mainly be different festivals that they end up doing & less outright touring until after the album comes out la

BTW I'm all good if there is no Tweedy solo set. Two full Wilco shows, & Yo La Tengo playing a regular show plus doing the live soundtrack...sheesh, there's not a whole lot more I could have dreamed of. And...I am going to the two solo shows at the Vic Theater in March this year as well (my first solo Tweedy shows)... Now onto Solid Sound 2013 homework...inspired by a fellow poster here, & one of my campsite mates for this year's fest, 'ole Johnny Yuma turned me on to the title track today & wisely recommended checking into the whole album "We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Pe

A few more folks I know are going now, but there's at least two which can only do either one, or possibly two days...but...they are wondering who is playing & when. With Wilco on Fri. & Sat. that ties things up for one of them, but the other is a big Yo La Tengo fan too, soooooo...I'm wondering when the schedule for the weekend will get released. That & I'm still secretly holding out hope for an acoustic Jeff Tweedy set on Sunday, as a surprise yet to be unveiled.

Happy Valentines Day...Wilco songs about love in some form
linclink replied to remphish1's topic in Just A Fan
"Open Mind" for "The Whole Love" album springs to mind...but great list... -
I'm hoping for, & betting on, YLT headlining Sunday too (& I agree that Neko Case is the next most likely candidate for that position). I just saw them in Cleveland & Toronto & they did two sets- about 9-10 sort of more acoustic numbers (seated) & then came out for a full electric set after about a 1/2 hour break, but...when I saw them play the soundtrack to the Buckminster Fuller film in Ithaca, they followed that up with a "Freewheelin' Yo La Tengo" show- a full show, but all seated acoustic, took requests, answered questions (I'd never seen one before, & I've seen th

Man The Relatives look REALLY interesting- they are self described as Psychedelic Gospel Funk from Dallas, Texas since 1970...new one on me...but hey so were Lee Fields & The Expressions & they knocked my socks off in Brooklyn last year...LOVE finding new artists (old Bass Player friend is really into Low...I have yet to spend much time with them, so really looking forward to checking them out too.). No Mavis Staples under "S" & since "M" is gone, maybe just no Mavis Staples this year...which gives me just one more reason to go to the Nelsonville Fest. I have a friend who wants to
-
WOW! I missed them this last year in Ithaca, because I was seeing Leonard Cohen that same night in Toronto, so this is really sweet, and needless to say, but I'll say it...NELS!!! Any & everything he does I'm up for checking out...dig Medeski, Martin & Wood too (really hope Nels & Marc Ribot sit in with them)...
-
I'm hoping for Jeff Tweedy solo acoustic on Sunday...or Yo La Tengo as a consolation prize And I'm betting tomorrow starts with "M" for Mavis Staples!! And maybe more... wondering if some of the later announcements could involve things like Autumn Defense...or maybe Sunday could close with a one of those later surprises being Loose Fur...

Pictures of performers are already up on the website...and I can tell you with two minutes to go...that... "D" is for...The Dream Syndicate!! Love what I know (earlier stuff) & have never seen them...this is turning into an amazing lineup & we are only 4 letters in...
-
Actually I love the quote!! And hopefully my post clarified & will clear you of the insanity charges And other fronts...No Autumn Defense is weird...I'm wondering if the posts are all about performers that are outside of the Wilco family, and if, at the end, they add the info about Wilco, solo Tweedy (hopefully), Nels or Glenn projects, Autumn Defense, etc. And "C" is for Neko Case!! That & Border Music are amazing choices!! WOW!!!! Having dug The Raccoonists I'm certainly interested in The Blisters too...and Al Madrigal rocks on The Daily Show!! This is kicking ass so far!!

Ha! I was multi-tasking & got a phone call...seems the only way I can cut & paste a text here is to have already typed & posted a letter & then go into edit & put the whole text adjacent to that letter...weird, but that's how it works for me in this town... But the stand alone "a" did work well with the context of the alphabetical countdown (until I eventually edited & completed the intended post...)
