  1. I am really enjoying her new album. Her lyrics are about as fresh and pointed as they come. Good stuff!
  2. Last night saw Calexico with opener Gaby Moreno. The prior night, Steelism.
  3. I feel guilty because I am going to NFF all three days but not a Pink Floyd fan at all. I know people are super excited about Roger Waters, but I will probably give him a miss.
  4. I'll be there! Looking forward to it. Just listened to this lovely interview with Jeff and Marty Lennartz ( replacing the beloved, retiring Frank E. Lee in the afternoons on WXRT in Chicago). He comments on how it's the same peeps who always make the requests. http://wxrt.cbslocal.com/2015/05/11/hear-wilcos-jeff-tweedy-call-in-to-wish-marty-lennartz-luck-on-his-first-day/
  5. I had a feeling there would be some good stories. Thanks everyone for letting us live your Wilco experience vicariously!
  6. Really enjoyed your "Speakers In Code" update, zuma, and the great photos. I'd love to hear some more details from those that were there. Where's everyone hiding?
  7. Thanks for sharing the videos. I love John's voice and am always glad when he gets a chance to step out front. I remember them doing "In the Street" at Solid Sound 2 years ago for that covers set on night 1. Love this cover.
  8. I've been loving these videos! Really professional video and good sound. Sounds like they will post the whole performance minus covers next week, so looking forward to seeing that. I'm so enamored with their new album. The solo album is a little uneven material-wise from my view, but yeah, I like that "Leaving Eden" CCDs album a lot. Boy, her voice is just a wonder though. She played a lot of banjo last night and fiddle on just a couple of songs. That voice is absolutely the star, though. I've officially achieved the apex of my guitar-playing career tomorrow, as I will be sharing th
  9. Busy next few days. Seeing Rhiannon Giddens tonight at the Vic. Tomorrow, Sean Watkins (Nickel Creek) at Space and then some guys named Jay Farrar and Rhett Miller on Saturday at Old Town School of Folk.
  10. What did you think of Punch Brothers?
  11. Curious. What is this higher, inclusive road that you envision?
  12. Oh, and Jason Narducy has had a fun and non-discriminatory day. Check out his twitter feed. https://twitter.com/SplitSingleband
  13. I've gotta say that I understand the disappointment and I understand those who feel that they may have been able to make a statement in a more effective way. Hey, I am a grown woman who cried when Tweedy was rained out at Taste of Chicago last July. But I don't get how these actions could possibly be characterized as selfish or cowardly though. The band lost a bunch of revenue and made lots of people angry to take an unpopular-with-many stance on an issue that was important to them. What's selfish or cowardly about that? I also don't see how holding an already-scheduled concert and then
  14. Omg, I know. I've been reading these comments for entertainment all evening. It's amazing how many people will make a facebook comment saying "Who?" instead of googling http://lmgtfy.com/?q=wilco. Also, the repetitiveness! 3 gazillion people post "lots of other states have a version of this law!" and another 3 gazillion people post "yeah, but there are some major differences that matter and here's a link." Apparently nobody reads the link. I also love that Wilco is listed as a "trending topic" on facebook. When have you seen that before?
  15. It's nice that the facebook post has created a space where the "Who is Beck?" crowd can get back together.
  16. Just saw this and I have tremendous respect for this decision. I know some of the affected fans are mad and disappointed. I would be too, especially if I voted against putting these idiots in office. However, how really can anyone outside of Indiana's voting system make their voices heard? Money is the only answer (public shaming doesn't seem to have had any effect at all). The state losing business for conventions, travel, business ventures, and even rock concerts should eventually do the trick.
  17. Just wanted to add that I've seen a few shows up in Vermont (my Vermont-resident sister and brother-in-law are my Wilco co-dependents) and often Jeff's sister attends. He's said on more than one occasion from the stage that she's his hero.
  18. That is a lot to absorb in one awful week. I wish there were something to say that would be of help. I used to wonder how people got through the awful things that happen in life, and then as I went through a few myself, it became clear that it's because you don't have a choice. No way out but through. Sending good vibes and best wishes to you and your family.
  19. Saw Mac DeMarco at the Hideout Block party last summer and was bored silly. He seems to have a lot of fans though, so maybe someone can speak to what I am missing there.
