Old news, this all happened back in the summer of 69

Used records can still be found at decent prices. An estate sale I was at last Friday was liquidating a DJs collection who started spinning in the late 70s. I picked up 4 records (The Fixx and The Cars debuts, Townsend's Empty Glass and Supertramps Breakfast) in great shape for 10 bucks.

Its strange to see the Hawks play just awful (especially during the first half of the season) and then they'll have a period where they play like 3 time Stanley Cup winners.

Today I'm thinking about how cool it was to see the Blackhawks score 4 goals in under 3 minutes last night. They are on a 5 game winning hot streak to get that wild card spot in the playoffs. Calvino-bong thread?

We watched "Abducted in Plain Sight" last night. Crazy, crazy, crazy documentary. The 1970s were such a different time.

Speaking of Jerry, you know whats a pretty good semi-new release? That "Before the Dead" 4 CD set. All kinds of folk and bluegrass tunes featuring JG playing with Hunter, Jerry's wife, David Nelson, etc. I was familiar with the Sleepy Hollow Hog Stompers but The Black Mountain Boys group was on fire, Jerry just cookin on that banjo.

Reading K.K. Downing's (of Judas Priest) autobiography now. Halfway thru, kinda dry.

"Dispatches" by M. Herr. Fantastic book. Just found out the book that Full Metal Jacket is based on is called "The Short-Timers" by Gustav Hasford. I thought I'd pick up a copy and learned that they run about $500, used. Whoa!

Watched "The Overnight" last night. I suppose that means the xmas season is officially over at my house.

Watched "Birdbox" on Netflix last night. SWING......and a miss. Besides John Malkovich relishing his role as an a-hole, its a long 2 hours. And why do screenwriters insist on messing with the book handed to them? Most of the second half of the film didn't happen in the book.
