In honor of Fall creeping around these parts, I made a smoked chicken casserole which we will be eating tonite.

"Hallucinations" by O. Sachs. I had to skip the part about migraines and auras. I had those as a kid, bad memories. I liked the info on hypnagogic hallucinations. I get those quite often but since they are so mild, I never really gave them much thought. Its a crazy world!

"Three Years with the 92nd Illinois-The Civil War Diary of John M. King". Surprisingly well written, lots of details of what it was like to be an Union grunt soldier.

I still have giant and awesome speakers in the house too. I hope to never have to get rid of those. -

When working, I don't listen to music. When not working, I use the home stereo system for vinyl and CDs and/or the various iPod player devices we have scattered about the house. I'll also use the radio to listen to the Steve Dahl show if I happen to be in the car on weekday afternoons. -

I WILL be seeing The Giving Tree Band on Friday night though...........on their home turf in bucolic Yorkville IL. So there's that.

No really, I just found out about it today. Not sure how I missed this news. One of the down falls of sobriety perhaps?

Today my dog supplemented her nutritional intake by eating a mouse that she caught in the prairie. She also snacked on some dirt.

Oh yeah......Howard Hessman's haircut! What a hoot! His bad hair preceded the Spinal Tap guys. That was a laugh out loud moment for me.

The best Woodrell book I've read besides "Winters Bone" is "Woe To Live On". Civil war setting, crazy stuff.

I did do some reading on Tom after finishing the Offerman book. Interesting guy with quite the "gumption" as Nick would say. Certainly admirable in that respect.

I recently read Nick Offerman's "Gumption" in which he extolled the virtues of the early 1970s counterculture cult classic "Billy Jack". Since I had somehow never seen that and I kinda like Nick's outlook on life, I put that film on my mental list. Last night after work and walking the dog, food shopping and hopefully destroying a yellow jacket nest that took residence in my roof, I plopped down and flicked on the boobtube to see that "Billy Jack" had just started. I settled in and two hours or so later I turned the TV off, appalled by the laughable travesty I had just endured. I'm not sure wh

Today, I am looking forward to seeing the Giving Tree Band tomorrow evening on the northwest side of Chicago and on Saturday at VeggieFest. I haven't seen them since last September. Oh yeah, Perseid meteor shower is tonight. I've seen a handful over the last few nights but tonight is the really big show!

I hope Trump wins the nomination because it will ensure another Democrat president will be in office for four more years.

Well, I guess Mayer isn't a complete tool after all. He's really thrown himself into the GD canon. Interesting.

Yeah, that's a great show. Hopkins in an interview said he had no recollection of the short period he was playing with JGB. Btw, that disc is selling for $145+ on Amazon

The Mockingbird makes a beautiful bird song.

Despite some fairly large plot holes, I thought "Wayward Pines" was pretty damn good. The finale last night really had me going.

Was listening to Brent's last show, 7-23-90, last night. Man oh man, he is on fire! I was at those shows and do recall most of those times but "Good Time Blues" was off the hook.
