Very cool story about the Royal's Brian Bannister, who is one of the first pitchers to publicly embrace sabermetrics. It's sort of sad that a baseball player who uses statistics and reasonable, objective thinking has to be praised. This should be commonplace.

I like the Vampire Weekend record a ton. I don't get the criticisms about their style. It has nothing to do with the music, so why do people spend even a second thinking about it? As for whether they are ska or African enough in their music, I don't really know. I don't know much about those two genres, but I like their songs, so I don't care if they are failing at making African influenced music. They are succeeding at making music that sounds good to me.

No, this is a serious question. I really, legitimately want to know where these people are coming from, and I just cannot. Logically it just doesn't work in my brain, so if someone could break down exactly how this is a threat to anything, I'd really appreciate it. (I'm actually being serious here.
