  1. Very easy. Take a lit cigarette and place the cherry against the backside of the ticket. If the ticket is real. a black spot will appear on the front side of the ticket. Scalpers will get pissed when you do this, so if they start to protest, then you know the ticket is a fake.
  2. That's exactly what is going on with all of this Iran hoopla. Scary, ain't it? As far as Rather goes, well he should have taken a stand when this first happened, so I don't think he deserves any money. There was some speculation that the "false documents" that were obtained by Rather were circulated by Karl Rove, which would go right along with his style. Does anybody know if any light has been shed on this rumor?
  3. Last time I saw Bruce (at MSG in NYC) I waited until the show started and then bought a ticket from someone at less than face value. Since that day, thats how I get most of my concert tickets, based on this logic: At sold out shows, there are more than a few people that gobbled up tickets, thinking they could get their friends to come, or sell them outside. So when the show starts, the people with the tickets (scalpers as well) are fucked and they start to panic. They either have to sell the tickets for whatever they can get, or eat the tickets. This has been a very sucessful strategy in see
  4. Really? You think Kenny Arnoff is crap? I don't like him (something about him annoys the shit out of me), but I think he's a solid drummer. Fogerty is indeed a legend and I'm looking forward to hearing this record. I gained complete respect for him while straining to cover "Long As I See The Light." I finally got it, but we had to drastically change keys because his voice is so damn unique in register.
  5. You are absolutely correct. A few months ago, my friend and I were watching the Yanks and a Burger King commercial came on and the background Whopper music was a stylized synth-track and he turned and said "indie-rock has jumped the shark". The cycle goes round...
  6. I agree. I don't think we can truly consider any of those bands as "indie-rock" anymore. Its not exactly DIY!
  7. Sorry, "moot"...I stand corrected. As far a Jesus' beard goes...well, thats a whole can of worms I'm not going to open here!
  8. Talking about The Beatles place in music history compared to other bands is like talking about the existence of Jesus. Yeah, he may or may not have walked the earth, etc., etc, but so many people believe in him, its kind of a mute point...
  9. I've had a Peavy Classic 50 as my main road/stage amp for almost 9 years now. Its a nice amp, and it can take a beating like nobodys business.
  10. Although Garth's beard is by far and away the greatest beard in rock history, John and George had some pretty good beards for a while! And in the end, you don't count how many hits you've had, or how many gold records are on your wall...you just sit back and stroke your beard!
  11. it couldn't be any worse than bush...now give me that $5!!! Dershowitz defended OJ, did he not? Doesn't that kind of make him a douchebag??
  12. Thats not exactly "live" is it? In fact, it sounds like the exact approach the Beatles (and almost every band on the planet earth)used on all of their recordings, making your original point mute and obsolete.
  13. The amazing thing is the influence the artists had on each of those records!
  14. Thats just not true. Sorry. EVERY BAND STARTS THEIR SESSIONS BY PLAYING LIVE IN THE STUDIO. Its called "basics". Then they go back and start re-tooling whatever they want to fix or change. The Band did A LOT of this on "Big Pink" and especially on "The Band".
  15. I love The Band just as much as anybody, but there are a few things that The Beatles did that The Band could not touch... 1) Songwriting- The Band has so many great, timeless songs, if you took them all and put them on one complilation, it would barely fill enough space for the White Album. 2) Live- Its easy to say The Band was better live, but thats because they were able to tour. The Beatles were a damn fine live band in thier time. Just check the BBC sessions. 3) Overdubs and studio tricks- The Band was great in the studio...at doing overdubs, especially when it came to Garth Hudson's par
  16. The most disturbing thing about all the hoopla surrounding his visit is seeing how ignorant most of America is when it comes to Iran, its politics and it culture, and even worse, the American media. I am by no means a scholar of Iranian culture, but ever since the war drums started pounding in the White House a few weeks ago, I have been reading as much about Iran as I can. The way the president and the white house speak about Iran, and the way the media continues to blindly take what they say about Iran as fact (SEE: Scott Pelley on 60 Minutes last night, he should be fired!) its Iraq all ove
  17. Met the man last week for the first time. Very nice, down to earth guy...
  18. As far as underrated Beatles' songs go, "Anytime at All"... But the all-time-top-5-underrated-Beatles-songs-of-all-time-at-this-moment-right-now-as im typing this-but are subject to change: Long, Long, Long Cry Baby Cry Things We Said Today No Reply Oh Darling
  19. But don't forget the 8 previous years as The Hawks....
  20. Lanois is one of my faves, as a musician and as a producer. WRECKINGBALL is one of my favorite late-night records, and TIME OUT OF MIND is in my top 5 Dyaln records...and TEATRO is one of my favorite Willie records, etc., etc,
  21. No check...Just all the coffee you can drink, ala Kramer!
  22. As mentioned on page 55 of The NY Post today...even though they got the name of the band wrong!
