  1. I think Fox IS the mainstream media. They have the largest market share, and therefore, for many people, they are the "fair and balanced" alternative to the loony, liberal left. Unfortunately, the loony liberal left may include not only MSNBC but also CNN, CBS, ABC, PBS, and just about every internet provider, like Yahoo, AOL, etc., etc. In other words, it's a world of Fox + conservative bloggers vs. pretty much everybody else. You can see this effect in articles like this about how "shocked" many of Romney's supporters were by the shellacking: http://washingtonexaminer.com/in-boston-stunne
  2. Sorry, I didn't answer your question properly the first time. I don't think there is a good site for reviews of all the shows, no idea. I just googled the name of the town or the venue and looked for reviews from local news outlets. Like for the Orlando show, a google news search for "the who quadrophenia amway orlando" brings up this review of the show I attended: http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/entertainment_music_blog/2012/11/concert-review-the-who-at-amway-center.html Have not seen that making of Quadrophenia doc, sounds interesting. Is Palladia available on basic cable in the U.S?
  3. I admire your optimism and wish I shared it. I am very much concerned that the conversation will go on and on in a dreadfully hyperbolic "Henny Penny" way. Just look at the comments sections of pretty much anything on Facebook or Yahoo or wherever: "Teach your children at young age personal responsibility principles before it's too late and they become these voters." "People who get things like welfare, foodstamps and the such are jumping for joy" "98% Blacks voting for a black just because he's black = racist" "I would love for someone to tell me --When did it become the governments r
  4. I think lost highway has to lock it, unless the moderators do. It's been stressful, but it was worth it for the excellent outcome.
  5. Your post really mirrors my own experience. I was an independent for years, until I moved to Florida and learned you can't vote in primaries here unless you register with a party. Even then, I didn't always vote for a Dem...depended on the issues, the record(s) or lack thereof....a great Republican with a proven record of moderate views and bipartisanship would trump a no-experience Dem for me back then. Through the intervening years, I have watched the Republican party become increasingly, frighteningly far right, the Teabaggers being the latest egregious example. Even Reagan would have been
  6. I guess we have to start hanging out in the 2016 thread instead of this one. Meanwhile, not everyone is as optimistic as me about the Republican party doing any real soul-searching: http://www.allvoices.com/contributed-news/13350368/content/95277907-donald-trump
  7. So, let's see... Obama beat Romney decisively...not only up by a couple million in the popular vote, but looks like it will be 332-206 once our tally here in F-L-A comes in. Hell, 303-235 would still be decisive. In addition... Brown beat Mandel Murphy beat McMahon Nelson beat Mack Donnelly beat Mourdock Warren beat Brown McCaskill beat Akin Gillibrand beat Long Sanders beat MacGovern Kaine beat Allen I would say that is a very good night indeed for Dems as well as independents. A friend of mine on FB, who is a Republican, posted something about how we should not gloat if we won, nor

  9. That article is pretty funny, but the comments section after it is downright priceless: Ha!
  10. Whoever wins, I really hope the count is basically done tomorrow night. I am just way too tired to withstand a 2000-style recount.
  11. I looked up reviews of the first show, but didn't read the encores until after my show (which was only the second night of the tour). They definitely changed up the encores, but who knows how that will progress? One thing, for sure: we got better encores last night than they did the first night. And with Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere, it was obviously the first time they had played it in a while. There was a major false start, where things were out of sync, and Pete called for it to be started over from the top. The second attempt worked well. It was a pretty great show, given Daltrey's age and h
  12. I think you will enjoy it. My friends and I walked out of there feeling like we had just seen something really special.

  15. I love when people reveal their true nature through their comments & questions. My work is done.
  16. And apparently, over at the libertarian forum, they think it's okay for people to gouge you for $100 to charge your phone if you're in NY. Ain't the free market grand? http://www.ronpaulforums.com/printthread.php?t=394061&pp=10&page=2
  17. One of my (female) friends on Facebook posted something I liked. It's a little over the top, which is probably why I like it. "If you don't vote because you're convinced both guys are just the same, then I hope you like having to bring up your rape baby which you must bring to term because God has a plan for you, without healthcare because God's plan doesn't involve that, nor with education because it's the teachers who are to blame for the economy suffering, but not the rich who shouldn't be asked to suffer at all even if they did rape our economy."
  18. Obama could lose FL, OH, & VA, and still win if he picks up CO, NV and IA. It would be a very close 272-266 margin. Romney's path still looks pretty narrow unless he gets most of the swing states.
  19. That ranks up there with the best political slogans of all time:1) Forty acres and a mule 2) A chicken in every pot 3) A hotdog for every pothead Perfect! Although, now I'm thinking...maybe make it a kind veggie burrito...?
