That is a great Pure Jerry release for sure. Really nice version of Tore Up Over You, and there aren't many good live versions of that one out there, from my experience. I feel the same about Might As Well, although the Dead did a decent job on that in their first show of '76.

http://www.huffingto..._n_2022388.html "Rolling Stones Rock Paris With $20 Surprise Show" Can't believe they opened with Route 66. That would be almost as cool as seeing them do Shattered or Jumping Jack Flash. And for $20? Jesus. "Route 66" "It’s Only Rock and Roll" "Shattered" "When The Whip Comes Down" "Champagne and Reefer" "Doom and Gloom" "Miss You" "Tumbling Dice" "Start Me Up" "Midnight Rambler" "Jumping Jack Flash" "Brown Sugar"

I can't speak for anyone else, but in Florida we are really SOL on the whole voter guide thing. That is, no one at the state level sends out any kind of mass mailer to let us know what is on the ballot in the way you are all describing. You have to read about it online or in the paper. It's particularly bad this year, as there are nine or ten amendments to be voted on, some of which are extremely lengthy. Of course, they are worded so shittily, you practically have to have a lawyer with you to interpret them. I have a Master's degree in English, and I would not have wanted to read through this -
Heard I Got You over the loudspeakers about 5 minutes before President Obama came out to speak this morning at the Tampa, FL rally. That count as "out and about?"

In Florida, we are really encouraging early voting. The lines will be long on every day of the early voting period, actually, so if people can get to their local Supervisor of Elections' office and vote now, they should. The lines on election day may end up being prohibitively long. Went to the big Obama rally here in Tampa this morning, and it was amazing. I had to leave before he was finished so I could get to work on time, but I was surprised by how hoarse he was. He is losing his voice from talking so much. Lot of people there...too many to even get into the area where he was speaking. S -
Wow, suites, bummer that you had a less than enjoyable experience at the show. For me, not being a huge Crowes fan, it was a bit of a revelation...kind of like the surprise I felt a few years back when Ryan Adams started getting all Dead-ish, except I enjoyed this live. Thanks to that show, and downloading their first disc afterwards, I've got a new #2 band (behind Wilco)...maybe not of all time, but of what's out there now. I really dug these guys as a live unit, especially Neal and the keyboard player.

Thanks, I'll update the list!

Finally got to see these guys, and it was a very enjoyable show in a tiny venue, an old theatre that seats less than 500. Very odd but enthusiastic crowd, kind of like some of the Wilco theatre shows: mixed between the sitters and standers. After the first tune, which was somewhat mid-tempo, Chris Robinson said, "I know there are different customs in different places, but ya'll can get up and dance if you want." After that, about half the place got up and pretty much stayed up, but there were pockets of sitters throughout the show. Probably blasphemy to say this in the Black Crowes thread, b

This will not mean much in the scheme of things, but a newspaper in Salt Lake City, UT endorsed Obama today. Surprising place to get support from... http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/opinion/55019844-82/romney-obama-state-president.html.csp -

One thing that almost no one ever brings up is the very real possibility of debt forgiveness. Happens all the time when it comes to a poorer country. If the USA is really on the verge of financial collapse, there are a whole boatload of countries who have a vested interest in making sure that doesn't happen. For all of Romney's talk about getting tough on China, I find it more likely that at some point China will strike some kind of deal to forgive some of our debt in exchange for a pledge that we continue to buy all their cheap crap. The US-China relation has been dysfunctional for years, but -
I enjoy live theatre, but I honestly am not that crazy about most of the music if it is taken out of that "in-the-theatre" context. That being said, if you can catch The Lion King and have decent seats, it is a must see. I had front row for that one, and I was blown away by it.
-
Well, this being a Wilco board, I figure people might bust my chops about going to see Broadway musicals. Lord knows I get my chops busted about enough stuff as it is, so when I started writing the post I was already sort of "ducking" in my mind.

I hate to admit it, especially on here, but in recent years almost all of the theater I have seen has been Broadway musicals. The company where I work is a big contributor to the local performing arts center, and we have an annual theater night where we get free tickets for a show, and also sometimes we get comped an extra show. The seats for all of these are in the first 10 rows, so it's pretty sweet. I've seen The Lion King, Wicked, The Producers, Hairspray, Spamalot, Annie, Phantom, Les Miz...a bunch. I've already gotten comp tickets to see American Idiot here in the spring. The only except

My pleasure, gents. I believe they are pretty reliable, in part because they cite a variety of sources. For one, The Wall St. Journal - not exactly a bastion of the far left - supported the President's contention that prices were lower in early 2009 due to low demand: "When Mr. Obama was inaugurated, demand [for crude oil] was weak due to the recession. But now it's stronger, and thus the price is higher." This is true on a global level, since oil is a worldwide commodity. There are plenty of legitimate reasons someone could find fault with the President, but gas prices are really not one of t -

Pretty easy to do. When Bush was president, gas spiked to over $4.00 per gallon nationwide. Then the major financial crisis in 2008 caused the price to plummet to about $2.00, mainly due to a massive recession. http://mediamatters.org/research/2012/04/12/myths-and-facts-about-oil-and-gasoline/184527#recession -

But I do feel amazingly clean. I agree with this. Wow, we really do see the world in a different way! I always thought "Suck it up, cupcake" was kind of funny. Isn't from a movie or a commercial? I got it from a friend of mine. I thought directly calling someone a profanity was against the general rules on this forum, but I don't really care what someone like that says about me. It means nothing. -

I think asshole is just a few steps beyond cupcake in terms of harshness, but okay...maybe we need some ground rules as to what "respector" really means. I'm sure it means different things to different people. I still think my idea of a poll is a good one....even if the "winner" is me. -

We should take a poll on here of who is the least respectful, most obnoxious person on the thread. I will be interested to see how the mods respond to name-calling. Very dignified of you. What a piece of work. -

Wow, this is just like Bill Maher's "Dispatches from the Bubble." I don't feel obligated to respond. Bottom line, polls show that most people agree the Mittster got crushed: http://www.examiner....y-second-debate Shortly after midnight following Tuesday’s second presidential debate between Democratic President Barack Obama and his Republican challenger Willard Mitt Romney, most major snap polls showed that Obama won. These polls include: CNBC.com, which had Obama beating Romney by a significant 68% to 28% spread with nearly 62,000 responses; CBS News, whose poll of uncommitted voters gav -

So, if I understand correctly, people today are parsing the phrase "acts of terror" vs. "terrorist attack?" That is pretty weak, I'd say. When the conversation devolves down to that level, you know someone lost, and lost big time. IMHO, of course. -

Which ones? Here's what I'm seeing on CNN: http://politicaltick...bate/?hpt=hp_t1 (CNN) – Debate watchers were divided on who won the second presidential debate between President Barack Obama and Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, according to a new nationwide poll released late Tuesday night. The CNN/ORC International survey indicates 46% of debate watches say Obama won the debate, while 39% say Romney fared better. The seven-point margin falls within the poll's sampling error. Meanwhile, 73% said Obama did better than expected, compared to 37% who said the same about Romney. Th
