If I were on death row I'd order that as my last meal, so I wouldn't miss this place so much.

Check the album out - lots of great tunes on there.

Yeah, I have one set up for news about developments in research on the type of leukemia my father has.

A Thread for Musical Blasphemy you Truly Believe
Sir Stewart replied to hardwood floor's topic in Someone Else's Song
This is quite the unlikely conversation, isn't it? Talking about a folksinger's opening act for a somewhat well-known indie band who was past their prime (all due respect to the VF) at the time, 20 plus years ago. Ah, the internet. -

Yeah, hate just worked as a punchline for me there. I did dislike him a lot though. I remember he was doing a cynical song that included mention of a Beatles reunion tour and he stopped after the line and said something along the lines of "Mark my words, it WILL happen. With Julian or someone." And I did mark his words. Haha. -
Thanks for posting that - I just added it to my library queue. He keeps getting better.

Hey, me too. 1990, right? I remember it because I hated him. -
I noticed the Jeff Tweedy credit in that movie, too. Made me chuckle to think of him both at the show and being stuck with a camera. I never thought it could be Jeff. Awesome movie anyway.

Calm down.

Does Jeff Tweedy ever mention me?

Is this the chick who came up with that awesome line about Jaden Smith. -
Don't Tell A Soul was my entry point. I had Pleased To Meet Me already, but it never struck a chord until after Don't Tell A Soul. A-man speaks truth about Achin' To Be. That and Talent Show and They're Blind and Rock N Roll Ghost and Darlin' One, to name a few, are great. True, it has clunkers.

When this came out, my brother and I were obsessed with it, but incredibly, his disdain for The Beach Boys made him claim it was ridiculous to say the High Llamas were influenced by, or even fans of, The Beach Boys. Just, jaw-dropping ignorance. Had to share that.

Tofu is delicious in two ways: baked or deep-fried. It absorbs flavors, people. You need to know how to season.

Club Babyhead! I saw a few shows there (TMBG, Los Lobos). No disrespect intended, but considering the thread, I should share my own Pearl Jam/early days story: seeing them open for the Red Hot Chili Peppers in the fall of '91. All I knew of them was the Mother Love Bone connection (not that I'd heard any Mother Love Bone at that point, but the story was out there). They had a small rabid group at the front of the stage, and forgive me, but Eddie Vedder came across as insufferably self-important and more fake than the dozens of hair-metal frontmen I'd spent the previous five years hating on. Umm, Joe is pulling a Shia LaBeouf if he's trying to say he came up with that one.
