Thank you for being part of the .0001% of smokers who give a shit about that. Nothing riles me up day to day like seeing butts just tossed on the ground. Fuck you if you do that.

I read King's 'Bag of Bones' and 'Cell' recently. Was on a kick. Fun stuff.

But (without citing anything the band says), Pitchfork says "Amazon has listed a new Arcade Fire single, "Suburbs/Month of May", for release June 1. Which would be totally awesome if it was true. But it's not, according to the band's camp. Stay tuned."

Steve Martin's Born Standing Up - flew through this; he's so damn entertaining it reads like a monologue you don't want to end. I suppose growing up on his comedy records helps.

That just jogged my memory - the footage was definitely in a video that MTV used to show on CLOSET CLASSICS CAPSULE.

Rolling Stones' Exile On Main Street Week

Now you did it - I'll watch. I too do not like how the Stones have turned probably their greatest groove into an all-out rocker these days. -
What order do you put Wes Anderson's films in?

Dignan is not always as confident as he seems, and this thread might just bring out a sick, sadistic side that we've never seen before. -
The car footage appeared in something before - is it cut into the Hollywood Bowl film?

It was cool, but it was definitely missing something. And since they were the most interesting act of the week, I can't imagine I need to see what Keith Urban or the rest did (take Taj Mahal out of that lumping though - I'll probably still check that out). -
Caught the last half hour of this, hopefully (sorta) I'll see it all before they stop rerunning it. Seemed a little obvious and dull though, with all the 'crazy 60s' parallels. Cool to see Jim smiling/waving at folks from behind the wheel. And I dug the last line. Is Johnny Depp a big Doors fan? I can't see that.

Just watched the Phish performance and I don't think I'll be seeking out the others. Exile is perfect. I agree with Analogman re: the dirt/sex groove. -

tinnitus you keep meaning to write 'Ventilator Blues', right? -

I actually didn't catch that repeat either - I thought you really had Rushmore at #6 on purpose. That said, Bottle Rocket #6? -
It's a really good tune.

Pretentious or not, I think any negative attitude toward this song can be traced back to the time YHF was released, was (nearly) universally praised by critics and Wilco fans, which led to a shitload of hype surrounding the band and the album. Then, what represented the band/album on radio: Heavy Metal Drummer

No shit. -
It was pretty remarkable. I noticed he wasn't doing his little hip shake on his windup at all. Maybe that's the key.

I think Dice-K knew I was in the house last night.

Yeah but for the $1,476.33 seat you also get one of these:

After a show at the 4th & B in San Diego, as my (now) wife and I got in our car, a third party opened up the back door and jumped in, too. For a split second I was terrified but the guy was instantly shocked with embarrassment, and we all laughed and he said 'sorry sorry' a hundred times as he exited and got into the car full of people behind us. I'll never know if that was the right car, either.
-
Well that was inevitable huh?

Sure the shows are great, but the events surrounding them are nearly just as memorable, no? After my first Wilco show, we went to IHOP in Kenmore Square, where I ordered the soup of the day (stoned much?) - the waitress, a cutie, replied: "You don't order soup at IHOP."

Wow, thanks for posting this. Never heard of this before.
