Got mine too...all 3 BS albums as well as Ian & Jeb Loy Nichols' "Only Time Will Tell". Ian was sweet enough to autograph all, at my request. Cool! I haven't even listened to any of it yet though, because I've been so busy between my Dad's hospitalization and my own gang, including me, all being sick with a nasty flu. I can't wait but I want to find a peaceful moment to be able to get swept up in these cd's. I know I'm going to love them! The Brinsleys could always make me so damned happy. Saw this show and the previous night's (Pappy & Harriet's, in Pioneertown, CA, 2-4-11) this week, and can't say enough about what a wonderful time we had. This band just gets better and better, and hearing the gorgeous purity of John's and Pat's voices, alone or together, is a treasure. They have such a solid band behind them, and it's very clear how much everyone onstage is enjoying themselves, and it all comes together so beautifully, startlingly perfect. I've wanted to post about this show and the next night's, at the Troubadour in L.A.on 2-5, but 2 nights of musical magic have had the unfortunate backlash effect of causing my (somewhat-recovered-from) bronchitis to come rebounding back! And I lurve you guys like you can't imagine!!! What a week this has been...my dad collapsed a week ago, and in that time has basically died 4 different times and been revived...now he's out of the ICU and doing better, and has a new, better pacemaker. Driving up to see him yesterday, my son Brennan and I came upon a horrible freeway accident that had just happened seconds before, and stopped to help. There were small children and Brennan helped get them safely out of harm's way, and gave the woman driver his cell phone to call her husband (911 had been called by another driver who stopped).

Dad is better! He's getting his pacemaker replaced today with a better one that should function better for his particular needs. That's a very simple procedure, very non-invasive. Yay for non-invasive! It was overwhelming to finally see him awake yesterday. He was amazed that it was Tuesday...the last he remembered was talking with my sisters on Saturday. Hey all, if I am a bit out of touch right now it's because my dad, 87, collapsed yesterday and had to be rushed to the hospital. My sisters were visiting, thank God, so they began chest compressions immediately and kept him alive until the paramedics arrived and took over. Dad's had heart problems for years and has a pacemaker. At the hospital they got him stabilized and sedated him heavily overnight. I agree so much. It's so much easier to look away, to stay uninvolved...and truthfully, there are times this is even necessary, for our own safety...but far more often, there are ways in which we could be kind and caring humans, and maybe make a huge world of difference by not shying away. Once again, the signs were there and people didn't act. If someone had, maybe those people would be alive still, and their families wouldn't be shattered with grief. I'm going to recommit myself to doing better and try to be more help.

Ah, that's an incredible album! Some of the songs will grab you straight off, and the others are growers that you'll find yourself humming until they won't leave your head. The best kind of earworms! I've just gotten the cd out and popped it on. So good!

I'm a big M's fan and I love that Walter & Wendell album! Lou, definitely give your M's album a listen! Great stuff. The kind of albums you put on and just leave running on repeat. Which album do you have? I fell for the M's when they opened for Wilco, and later was lucky enough to catch them at some very fun club shows in L.A.
