  1. Haven't played mine yet. Will report back!
  2. We'll see, John. I asked Brennan & he said he didn't think the conversation had picked up, he hadn't heard it in his skim-listening of the recording. He hasn't had time to do anything with that recording (or others). Since coming home he's had a lot of work hours, so little free time. I listened to part of his recording yesterday & it sounded good. He says he did try to indicate the recorder to you but I think he was trying to be (too) polite! So sue me for raising a mannerly boy! I hope it turns out to be an ok recording.
  3. Yep, guilty as charged. You should've introduced yourself! Or did you and I've managed to space it? I met sooo many great people that weekend. Maybe we met by real-life name but I didn't realize it was you by username? That was a pretty incredible AD set! "Sentimental Lady" always sounds so fantastic when they do it. My son Brennan recorded, so eventually we'll get to hear that set again via bit torrent. I don't think he's had any time to work on his recordings yet. We weren't home from our cross-country jaunt until July 6th. We are just beginning to feel fully "home". I want to hear Liam
  4. Your photos rawk, Tony! Just gorgeous.
  5. It was obscene. Insane. Brennan, who luckily for me loves driving, did most of the driving*...I know there were 900 mile days, but I'll have to check with him. We still haven't figured out exactly how many miles we drove, all told. All I know is that hotel rooms began to feel like we'd been given direct acess to heaven itself. OMG, hot showers! Beds! I don't think we turned on the tv's even twice over 16 days. Who needed that false entertainment or manufactured news...we were living something more real & immediate. Everyone should cross this country at least once. It was still absolutely
  6. Great, now you've got me craving samosas! Thanks to you and Lily for sharing our madcap adventure! It was so good to see you and share the festival (monsoon & all!) with you!
  7. Moved me to tears. God bless ya, Clarence.
  8. Home! Yesterday early a.m., actually, but so exhausted that we did nothing but sleep most of yesterday. I'm still cross-eyed with exhaustion and my eyes don't want to focus half the time. But oh, what a glorious adventure it all was. I took something like 3400 pictures. To everybody we saw along the way, thank you so much for adding to our grand adventure. And to everybody we missed, perhaps we'll see you next time...Brennan has already begun scheming about our next trip. Crazy kid! Must go do bushels of laundry! A bit of what we saw: Hoover Dam Grand Canyon Wilco! Chicago Niagara Fa
  9. Have survived to this point. Have consumed vast quantities of energizing, life-affirming M. Chris hand-crafted pizza and am now ready to forge my way across the second half of this grand country! For you doubters, there will be pictures. Perhaps even of jackalopes. Somehow I have already taken about 300 pictures. Anybody's guess what's in there.
  10. My 20-yr-old son Brennan & I will be rocketing across this grand continent of ours in just a few short hours. Picture a steering wheel in this guy's hands, and that's us for the next multiple daze.-> We are traveling from Southern California to North Adams, MA, and eventually, back again. You do the maps. It should be a grand adventure. Send vibes! See you soon, m. chris, Clouds of Fluff, holyshit, and all of you we'll rendezvous with in North Adams!
  11. Great avatar, Joe! What kind of fish is that, do you know? I saw something similar at the Aquarium of the Pacific a little while ago. See you in North Adams!
  12. Yes! Take a look here: http://forums.viachicago.org/topic/45647-solid-sound-vc-meetup-round-2-new-and-improved/ Looking forward to meeting you!
  13. Aw, damn. I loved Clarence. Rest in peace, you big sweetheart. Bruce must be devastated. Somewhere around here I've got Clarence's autograph...a girlfriend snagged that for me years ago. I'll have to dig that out. Something the Big Man once touched, like the hearts of so many music fans. So sad to learn of his passing.
  14. Ah, but kidsmoke has insanity as her copilot.
  15. I'll be bringing pizza. I won't, unfortunately, be able to share. It'll be easy to understand once you're there, kitkat. Can't wait to meet you, welcome to Via Chicago!
  16. I let Brennan talk me into it. Send vibes. Actually those might be the smallest parts of our baggage. We'll be on the road 14 days total, and it's insane how many things that requires. Or seems to require, anyway. One bag is nothing but potential automotive needs...fluids, jumper cables & the like. I'm an overpreparer, I admit. If nuclear holocaust should strike while we're on the road, all we have to do is set up the fold-out bomb shelter. Ok that part was an exaggeration. Looking forward to meeting you! Don't be shy, come say hello and introduce the wife and daughter.
  17. Diane, that little bar we ended up at last year would suit me just fine, and was very very close to the SSF entrance. Did I mention I'm bringing homemade beef jerky? If Bren and I don't eat it all on the drive from California? No seriously, I'll be bringing the jerky. So no worries about beers on an empty stomach.
  18. Thank God they caught it! Stay well.
  19. Well, I will certainly be there. And I'll raise a toast to you, Diane, for making arrangements! Can't wait to see so many faces again, and to meet whoever I haven't.
  20. Damn, boys, take good care of yourselves and get healthy!
  21. Lazy Locomotives, there's plenty of very reasonably priced (& good!) food to be had within the festival, so no worries about that. I'm beginning to get ridiculously excited. Last year was pure magic. I'll bet it will be again! Can't wait to see you, everybody.
