  1. I guess my convictions are what they are. I love this band's ability to surprise and move me.
  2. I think Wilco will always defy expectations and never conform to any particular stereotype, because they are true originals.
  3. Thought you'd all like to know that after careful measurement we have deduced that this snake was approximately 6' 2.5" long. Width 7.5" circumference at his thickest.
  4. California has been (a few years back) where Texas is now...all sympathies, Crow! The drought really set Texas up for a one-two punch. I hope you get rain or the firefighters find a way soon to get the fires under control. Are any of the fires very close to you?
  5. This line is: "And I know that I won't be the easiest to set free" and I hear this verse as: "I'm on the other side oh, I'm satisfied oh I'm a spirit dove I'm looking for your love" The line I'm loving to death right now is this one, which I think I'm hearing correctly: "I'm simple as a matter of fact punch in the nose, don't overreact"
  6. Help me, I can't turn this off. I can't!
  7. This line, from One Sunday Morning: "Bless my mind I miss Being told how to live..." is so poignant, and so honestly ambivalent. What a lot it says, in such a perfect little turn of phrase.
  8. I hear this as "I am cold for my father..." and I wonder if that last line is, "One son is gone" I can't stop listening to this song. Tweedy would've made a great actor (but I'm grateful he chose music!) because of his ability to inhabit the characters he writes into life. This man feels so immediate and real. The song is achingly powerful.
  9. There are comparisons and influences apparent throughout, but what I'm most struck by is how indisputably, absolutely themselves they are. Only Wilco could have made this music. God, I love this band.
  10. It's listed in the tracklisting on Wilcoworld as "Whole Love". I just listened again to that Solid Sound version...love it.
  11. I know you're all bored, but could we at least attempt to stay on topic here? Random thoughts to the Umm forum, please.
  12. I can't help it, I'm excited. I'm expecting something special in this album.
  13. Sonic Shoulder makes a terrific point, which is, be honest with who you know your own child to be...and don't push them into a situation you love, but which will be uncomfortable for them. I took my daughter to her first Wilco concert (first concert ever) at age 8 and a half, and at this age she was ready and had a fantastic time. But not every child is the same. Know your own child.
  14. Yeah, I agree, I think it's at least 5 feet. Pretty fat & healthy, too. Glad I did meet up with it while on foot. I was noticing some specks of red on him ("You've got red on you" haha) and wondering if maybe he was injured. Or maybe that's just from the last rabbit he ate. Hahahahaha. A story for the grandkids someday.
  15. How long would you guys figure this snake to be, in feet? Those road stripes (like he's on) are 4" wide, aren't they?
