  1. Nicely put, Autumnteeth. For me, "Dawned on Me" is about real triumph, finding love in life by remembering to appreciate what we have and constantly trying to renew love.
  2. Good duct-tape restoration work, Amaranthine! You must've been a man in a previous life...repairing stuff with duct tape seems to be encoded into all male DNA. It's not pretty, but it sure does work in a pinch. A dear friend who is far craftier than I once made me a cool duct tape purse (red & black duct tape) and a beautifully detailed "kidsmoke" wallet, using multiple colors of duct tape. It's a thing of beauty! Ack, Crow, this story made me cringe just reading it!!! Reminded me of my college student days when I once sliced the hell out of the inside of my thumb. I was washing a
  3. Oh, Jay! My sympathies to you both, how horrible! Much love to you and yours.
  4. That's classic Riviera, Derek! Just gorgeous. I'll look forward to more in time for my January birthday! Oh and Drinkify recommends: “The Riviera” •8 oz. Sipsmith Gin •8 oz. Ice Cream Combine in highball glass and serve. to go with that.
  5. I'll join in the JC Brooks appreciation from Solid Sound. It was a solid set. Smooth and syncopated stuff. (See how I got all alliterative there? Probably the influence of the Thomas Jefferson bio I just finished.)
  6. Excellent save! Why would your 5-yr-old doubt your gluing powers? (Has she seen you attach yourself to stuff in the past?)
  7. You know you have stories. I don't know what we did before this stuff was invented, but I know what we've been doing ever since, and that is sticking stuff together that we didn't intend to stick together. Body parts, for instance. You do get better at using superglue with experience. But nothing quite beats the feeling, does it, when you realize, "Great! I've repaired the object beautifully, except that I am now attached to it." Share your superglue stories! I once glued the side of my tongue to my teeth. I was holding the tube in my teeth while handling the item I was trying to app
  8. I haven't put out the halloween candy yet because my own kids will eat it all before any trick-or-treaters get here! I think my favorite costume was when we dressed Brennan as a movie theatre floor....black sweats with all kinds of smashed drink cups and empty candy boxes attached, stray bits of candy, and spilled popcorn everywhere, including a bunch in his spiked (it was the fashion then) hair. He looked amazing. Walking cinemuck. This year Alissa is using her blonde hair and blue eyes to good advantage, going as Alice in Wonderland. Brennan is going as an urbane horse-about-town, with a
  9. Well, sure, if you read the analogy literally. I took it that the poster was saying, "Those hipsters who only like hoppy beers do so without realizing the subtleties of other types of beer." I see your point. I guess I just interpreted his point differently. But I suppose hipsters have different tastes in beer, yeah. I think this is mostly semantics. Maybe he should have worded it differently.
  10. What do you see as short-sighted, about it? Seriously curious. Seemed very sensible to me.
  11. I like this post & agree.
  12. You beat me to it...I was going to say the same! The Ernie Graham is something I've heard of but don't have. Sounds like something I ought to hunt up.
  13. God loves confetti & balloons, so how could He not show up?
  14. I'm really enjoying this thread. I'm another Gordon Lightfoot fan. And my husband smoked somethingsomething with him once years ago, after a show. Said he was a good guy.
  15. OMG, you too? I really liked the naming part. We had these certificates lining the top of the chalkboard across the whole front of the room! I wonder how "our" babies turned out. Laden with Catholic guilt perhaps? And strange names like Mick or Ringo? What in tarnation is that little white kid feeding those babies?
  16. How's it working now for all of you? Better I hope?
  17. Sure! And I hope i can help with your log-in problem as well. I'm checking.
  18. I don't know why you're having this problem. Anybody else? Let me see what I can find out.
