  1. That's some chilling footage on the news. I hope all of you in those regions are doing alright. So much damage, so quickly! God bless you & keep you.
  2. Glad you had a great trip! Good ol' In & Out Burger.
  3. Bula, I've sent you an email with info that should fix your problem. Anyone else encountering the "database error" message when trying to log in, please use our new contact email to let us know & we'll help you out: viachicago@rocketmail.com
  4. Great minds think alike...that's 2/3rds of the bands I'm wanting to see but haven't quite committed to yet: Elliott Brood, March 3rd Drive-By Truckers, March 14th John K. Samson, April 6th Money's tight with son Tom getting married in March, so I'm trying to behave, but these shows tempt!
  5. Really?! Great band in a great little venue...I wonder if I could make this? Hmmm.
  6. I'm just curious. Which ones, and why do you follow them?
  7. Yeah, we are aware of the coding problem with the sign-in button, and are trying to get that fixed. Fortunately it can be worked around by the method you're using, or by clicking "View New Content" which will give an error message saying you aren't logged in, but you can then log in from there. Workin' on the bugs.
  8. I'm so happy for you who will get to see this mini-tour! Have a blast.
  9. The "One Sunday Morning" one is yours? Terrific job! Also love the stop-motion one. Kudos to Richie Wireman and Warner Swain!
  10. If it was me, I'd drive down Sunset Blvd., which is an education in itself, and then let it take me all the way out until it empties onto Pacific Coast Highway at the ocean. From there, a little drive will take you to the pier at Santa Monica to play. This drive gets you the rush and roar of Hollywood, then a longish, pretty drive of winding road, then the rush and roar of the Pacific Ocean. A pretty great drive. Edit: I was looking at a map just now...if you exit the 101 fwy. in the Echo Park area (maybe Alvarado or Silver Lake Blvd.) and travel north up to W. Sunset Blvd., then turn west
  11. You men are so adorably predictable. Congratulations on your clean knobs, Alison.
  12. Oh man, I want to come! But seeing as it's a week after my son's wedding (yay!) I don't expect I'm going to have any discretionary funds left for flying around the countryside. Damn anyway! Those of you close enough to go, or able to travel in, have a magnificent time! I know these shows are so much fun because of all the reports of those who went in the past. I'll be there in spirit, and reading all the reviews after! And wow, $75 for tickets up front sounds very reasonable to me, and a benefit at that! Go! Have a blast! Tell us about it after!!!
  13. I'm sorry that's the case, howdjadoo. I have forwarded your concern on to Cupid, so let's hope he aims carefully and finds you someone just right. It is hard to be alone, and especially on a day all about romance. But keep the faith...true love will find you. It'll happen when you least expect it, like it always seems to!
  14. Nice. I feel the same. The boys certainly look dapper in that photo. Everybody's gazing into the middle distance, looking suave, while Mikael (also looking suave) gazes spot on. A handsome band who would look very nice holding shiny gold Grammys, but oh well. Next album.
  15. That's exactly why I want to hear him deliver his speech to the world at large!
  16. worldrecordplayer, I'd love to hear what your friends thought! I hope they had a grand time! Dave, thanks so much for posting the setlist! Hi Chris! Yep, that was one of my best-ever last-minute decisions. So much fun, such a wonderful mood to the entire show. What an ending, huh? I'm with you! I hope someone taped.
  17. It's a real shame. I was never particularly a fan, but she was talented, no question there. It's too bad that money and fame are so thin in the end, and can't make a person happy. I'm sorry her demons, whatever they were, seem to have gotten to her. 48 is so young for a life to be over. Rest in peace, Whitney.
  18. Go get that Grammy, boys! You deserve it. Best of luck! Can't wait to hear Jeff's acceptance speech.
  19. From the first notes of the surprising opener, "Reservations", through the final notes of the rollicking, quartet-of-half-naked, cowbell-dancing-men of Hoodoo Voodoo, this show was a pure joy. Rock & Roll will never die, not as long as it's done like this. Glorious. I am bleary with happy exhaustion after a loooong drive each way and an intense, exhilarating concert inbetween, so I will leave it to others in a more coherent frame of mind to describe this thing in proper English, which I cannot at the moment do. I seek sleep, doubtless to be filled with dream-memories which will have me
  20. Thank you for this. Great review, and I agree, the comments after it were priceless!!!
  21. My son Brennan had hoped to record this night but the promoter, Goldenvoice, wasn't allowing tapers. So unless someone managed a stealth recording, this one may exist only in our memories. A real shame, if so. It was a phenomenal show & I'd love to hear it again.
