  1. Sounding pretty damned great! Edit: that wasn't in response to you Sarah, just to the whole band blasting through Art of Almost. Wouldn't be surprised if Jeff's a bit tour-tired, but he sounds good to these ears.
  2. Hola, Tomorrow (Thursday, 31 May), Wilco's performance at Primavera Sound in Parc del Fòrum, Barcleona will broadcast live. 11p Barcelona / 4p Chicago time http://www.youtube.com/user/PrimaveraSoundTV Full summer tour schedule here. - HQ Catalan bureau Photo by John Stirratt As noted, John took the photo above...look closely and you can see him & camera reflected in the doorway. Cool photo and great news as well!
  3. That was both hard and wonderful to watch. He was a true original, and played from the heart. My husband had the privilege of working on a couple of his shows when he appeared at the University of CA, Riverside, yesrs ago. Bob was so impressed with how genuine Doc was, in every way. His music was as powerful as it was because the force of his personality deepened it. Godspeed, Doc...go entertain the angels. I hear heaven's got an amazing band!
  4. Thanks for the wonderful music.
  5. We sat around and played and lost the kids' foxtail (ball with a fabric tail attached) in the neighbors' yard (I hope his dogs haven't eaten it by now!) and then BBQ'd brats & ribs & chicken. Ate too much, listened to good music, traded jokes and stories until it was late....all in all, a perfect start to the summer. Lou, that sounds like a pretty fine Memorial Day. (Calvino, sometimes a quiet evening at home is just the ticket, after running ragged the rest of the week! ) Choo choo, you are still a mere 29?!! Such a pup. Happy early birthday, and what a cool way to mark it! Your
  6. Happy Memorial Day, everybody. The start of the endless summer, as well as a day to give thanks in our hearts to those who sacrificed so much. Hope it's a beautiful, relaxed day for all.
  7. Wishing Doc a full recovery, if it's possible. He's such a gem.
  8. I do enjoy watching Weird Al Yankovic's "Perform This Way". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ss_BmTGv43M&ob=av2n
  9. I always love reading a Nels interview, he's so direct. Thanks for sharing this.
  10. I was. Perhaps a future in stand-up comedy is not in my future. But still, "Lady Gaga" and "greatest artist" in the same sentence? Even my Grammar says that's ridiculous. (My Gramper agrees.)
  11. To get back to the subject of whether LG is the 21st century's "greatest artist"....two thoughts: 1.) We have very different ideas about what that expression, "greatest artist", means. I believe great art should be involved. and 2.) I don't think "Lady Gaga" and "greatest artist" can be used together in the same sentence unless there's a "not" in the sentence. That's the only way it's grammatically correct. As for bisexuality, I think we can safely take these folks' word for who and what they are. Who would know better?
  12. I like that you say this is a killer tune. because it is, lyrically. That sounds deliciously intense, if a bit terrifying.
  13. Nice interview. Pat's such a talented guy.
  14. I liked the BeeGees long before they were disco. Rest in peace, Robin. Thanks for the music.
  15. A very cool moment, Sarah! You sound great!
  16. Any fans of Alice Hoffman here? The most beautiful book I've read lately (other than The Moonflower Vine) was this: I had a very hard time putting it down, even when it was getting to be the wee hours of the morning and my eyelids were sagging. Each chapter seemed to flow forward into the next, and I wanted...needed!... to know how it all turned out. She writes like a dream, such wonderful perspectives and descriptions and phrases, and it seems so effortless. What a gift it is to be able to write as she does. I can't recommend it highly enough. You will thank me. Read anything of hers!
  17. Wish I could be there seeing it live, but this is the next best thing!
  18. They just need to open! Can't take a lot more of this.
  19. Judy, what a heartwarming story! I was explaining to Brennan tonight who she was, why she mattered, and playing him some YouTube clips, and all of a sudden I just got totally choked up and couldn't even talk. It surprised me! She really was a special one, and would have been whenever she came up. She was more, and better, than disco. I'll bet that handwritten bit really was from her. She seemed to have a big heart. I love the mental image of your dance party with the kids!
  20. On IE and Chrome, I get this in response to the link: Error 403 - Forbidden You tried to access a document for which you don't have privileges. Heat, it works through Firefox, and is such a cool photo! If anybody wants to see Yosemite Falls tonight you'd better look quick because Post #2 is getting very dark very quickly.
  21. Rest in peace, Donna. Man that girl could sing!
  22. Hmm, I'm on Chrome, which is usually reliable, but I'll try another. As for the Yosemite photo, you missed what I was saying...it's updating with the webcam, so I couldn't see a thing last night except a big black rectangle! Now that it's daytime I can see it fine. ( I expect a recurrence of this problem tonight.) Edit: Ok, seeing it fine on Firefox. Wow! A view to forever! That's a terrific photo.
