Wilco — 9/16/12, Columbia, MO (Outdoors On 9th Street)
kidsmoke replied to bböp's topic in After The Show
Ah, the song that gave me my username! I got to hear some of it right along with you, Chris, because Melissa called me. I'll bet the sound quality was a heap better on your end, but it was wonderful to be (mentally anyway) "Outdoors on 9th Street" again. Sounds like it was a fantastic show! -
Yeah, that's a good one too!

Yes, nicely put.

These pictures are very moving. -
All these great choices are making me want to dig a lot of albums out!

Great clip.

Seriously. This is a real hot-button issue, and I'd just like to see things stay respectful.

Everybody back off and behave civilly, or please take it off the boards to private messaging.

It doesn't have to be an "obvious" choice, though...just any album that you fell for, hard, once you heard it via headphones.
-
Yes, unfortunately I do.

...or are you just happy to see me? Man Attempts to Smuggle Loris in Underpants That poor loris! No wonder he's all bug-eyed.

Your story is all too common among teachers, Brownie. I'm sad for you, and for the students who will miss out on your dedicated teaching. It's time for an entire generation of parents to step up and take responsibility for their children's behavior, and insist that those children are accountable and respectful. Best of luck. Tweedling, to reply to you, I support the Chicago teachers.

I know we've talked before about the pure pleasures of losing oneself in an album heard through headphones...the music becomes so immediate and all-encompassing and intimate, with every nuance accentuated, every lyric right there in your head. I was thinking the other day of so many albums that didn't quite "click", didn't drag me deep into them with full appeciation, until I heard them through headphones, roaring or whispering through my head without so many exterior distractions. It really makes me realize how much music deserves some time to be the full focus of our thoughts, not a backgro

Happy to be able to help, bittersweet_me. We're a community here, and I really do believe that we are all in this life together. No one is in it alone although it can sure feel that way at times. I'm glad you feel welcomed and have been shown empathy and appreciation for your input. This is a pretty great gang of people. I really enjoy the trading of opinions and ideas that happens in these forums.

Haha, that's funny. I'm sure it is the Dutch name. I've come across Dutch guys named Wilco often when doing a Wilco search, over the years! Also, tupeloattheBottleneck, I have to commend you on that username! Nice avatar too.

SO agreed on Tim Rogers! I could listen to him ramble for hours. Such a natural performer, so very funny.
-
Oh, ouch!

I gave up taking music critics too seriously a long time ago, because even if I agree strongly with one comment a critic makes, it seems like the next comment out of the same critic's mouth (pen) is something I totally disagree with. I've had far better luck with listening to the recommendations of a small pool of trusted friends, and the music I listen to the most is rarely what the current crop of critics are raving about. Music is so hard to write about.
