I always love reading a Nels interview, he's so direct. Thanks for sharing this.

To get back to the subject of whether LG is the 21st century's "greatest artist"....two thoughts: 1.) We have very different ideas about what that expression, "greatest artist", means. I believe great art should be involved. and 2.) I don't think "Lady Gaga" and "greatest artist" can be used together in the same sentence unless there's a "not" in the sentence. That's the only way it's grammatically correct. As for bisexuality, I think we can safely take these folks' word for who and what they are. Who would know better?

I like that you say this is a killer tune. because it is, lyrically. That sounds deliciously intense, if a bit terrifying.

I liked the BeeGees long before they were disco. Rest in peace, Robin. Thanks for the music.

A very cool moment, Sarah! You sound great!

Any fans of Alice Hoffman here? The most beautiful book I've read lately (other than The Moonflower Vine) was this: I had a very hard time putting it down, even when it was getting to be the wee hours of the morning and my eyelids were sagging. Each chapter seemed to flow forward into the next, and I wanted...needed!... to know how it all turned out. She writes like a dream, such wonderful perspectives and descriptions and phrases, and it seems so effortless. What a gift it is to be able to write as she does. I can't recommend it highly enough. You will thank me. Read anything of hers!

Wish I could be there seeing it live, but this is the next best thing!

They just need to open! Can't take a lot more of this.

I've taken care of Ms. Sarah! -
Judy, what a heartwarming story! I was explaining to Brennan tonight who she was, why she mattered, and playing him some YouTube clips, and all of a sudden I just got totally choked up and couldn't even talk. It surprised me! She really was a special one, and would have been whenever she came up. She was more, and better, than disco. I'll bet that handwritten bit really was from her. She seemed to have a big heart. I love the mental image of your dance party with the kids!

On IE and Chrome, I get this in response to the link: Error 403 - Forbidden You tried to access a document for which you don't have privileges. Heat, it works through Firefox, and is such a cool photo! If anybody wants to see Yosemite Falls tonight you'd better look quick because Post #2 is getting very dark very quickly.

Rest in peace, Donna. Man that girl could sing!

Hmm, I'm on Chrome, which is usually reliable, but I'll try another. As for the Yosemite photo, you missed what I was saying...it's updating with the webcam, so I couldn't see a thing last night except a big black rectangle! Now that it's daytime I can see it fine. ( I expect a recurrence of this problem tonight.) Edit: Ok, seeing it fine on Firefox. Wow! A view to forever! That's a terrific photo.

You? A "little" giddy? i think not. -
Those would go nicely together. In my house!

I can't see your picture, Michelle, but I would love to see the photo you've posted, just from your description of it! I know the Black Hills are gorgeous, and I remember how pretty Wyoming was when Brennan and I drove through it late last June! As for the Yosemite photo I posted (2nd post in this thread), I can't see that either! Haha, I thought I was getting a still photo from the webcam, but I noticed as today wore on that the picture looked different, and darker & more shadowed. Seems my "photo" is connected to the webcam itself, so now that it's night, you get nothing to look at but

Has anyone read Jetta Carleton's The Moonflower Vine? What a deeply beautiful book it is, about life and family. Nothing I could say would do it justice, but I recommend it wholeheartedly. It's the kind of a book you wish you could walk inside of. That cover looks cheesy, but don't let that stop you. The book is incredible.

Camp Mather looks fantastic! Enjoy every minute. Bring bug spray.* * Based on Brennan's and my experience hiking to the Devil's Postpile (in nearby Mammoth) last early July....the 747-sized mosquitos made it the fastest visit ever, and our hike was more of a run, slapping at each others' backs as we raced for the protection of the car. Beautiful scenery though! Blurry, but beautiful!

Congratulations!

I was looking at these webcam views of Yosemite and craving a long visit there. Take a look, although it doesn't even barely scratch the surface of how lovely the area is: http://www.yosemiteconservancy.org/webcams We really are fortunate, despite all the hardships life flings at us, to be surrounded by so many gorgeous and inspiring places...whether it's the Grand Canyon or your local undiscovered fishing spot. Where do you go (or where do you wish to go?) for that sustenance that only comes from a peaceful location in nature?

Brave Louie! That's on my "eventual" list, too. Let us know how it goes. I've just finished reading this: A heartbreaker, for sure...but also a beautiful testament to the human spirit, and to friendship's power. I found it a bit hard to get into at first because so many people were introduced and I couldn't keep them all straight. But if you try it, stick with it. The story winnows down to the main group of characters, and their story is amazing and absorbing. History at its best.
