  1. I know you both feel passionately about your positions on this issue. Passion is fine, but please keep it civil or else go to pm's. Thanks.
  2. That must've been thrilling for Nels! I second the request for any youtube links. Dan must've loved that, Leigh!
  3. Oh yeah. But he just lets the song get out and stand there on its own merits. I love the late slanting sunlight and Jeff's expressive face...brings so much to an already amazing, poignant song.
  4. I've also just pulled it off the shelf, and set out to appreciate anew with the headphones I was given at Christmas. Happy 20th!!
  5. That's a really sad story. I wish him all the best.
  6. It's still hard for me to believe that African-Americans didn't have voting rights when I was a child...I was 9 in 1965. Bravo to Phillips and so many others who risked everything to change that! Thanks for posting this. We shouldn't forget.
  7. Yes, yes, yes! I hate that so much of CNN is now given over to pure video. I don't mind if there is a video in addition to a news story, but I hate having to watch a video to get the news story! Let me read the story, and then watch a video about it if I choose to, but not as the sole source of the story. Adding to my dislike of this trend is the fact that I can read, and get the important points of the story, far faster than the video can be loaded and viewed, in most cases. So it slows me down to have to watch a video.
  8. I love that scene. Brilliant! It always makes me laugh. Well, he/she would! Hahaha. That reminds me of one I saw long ago...I've been tempted it remake it for my own car, but it would offend some: Jesus is coming! Everybody look busy!
  9. While in L.A. about a week ago, my son Brennan & I came across a car bearing the pithy STILL PISSED AT YOKO I admit, I cracked up, even though I don't personally blame Yoko all that much. I'd share the photo we snapped but Brennan's damned dog (the adorably bouncy chihuahua-pomeranian, Buster) chewed up the camera's download cable, so... maybe later. Seen any good bumperstickers where you're at?
  10. I want to thank you for bringing this book to my attention, smells like flowers! From the moment I picked it up until I finished it (too soon!) I was completely captivated by the people and events of the book. It was so very human, and yet like reading about humans on a strange new planet where unimaginable things can happen. What an incredible story it is. I recommend it to everybody. Author Timothy Egan is a gifted writer who makes it all seem so immediate that you can practically taste the dirt in your mouth (read it and you'll understand). A very hard book to put down! The fascination ha
  11. That's really nice! I look forward to hearing the rest. He is one multitalented brutha. Great stuff, Steve! Nice work on the webpage, Chandler! Very attractive.
  12. You were "sold" going in, DBoon. You had clearly decided before posting that this was a cause you felt for, a cause you could support. We got that. As gogo has pointed out, this is a discussion board. Let the discussion happen, and give our members the right to examine the evidence and decide for themselves what they believe. You posted to bring attention to a cause you believe in. You've done that. Now let people think for themselves. You've made up your mind on this organization. Let others look for themselves and decide for themselves.
  13. That kid has some talent! It's a terrific tune. Hard to believe Spencer is just 16!
  14. That was interesting, Anthony, and brings up several of the worries that go with supporting a cause. I read the entire thing. At the close of the piece, author Grant Oyston has added, "EDIT: Please read Invisible Children’s excellent response here." Invisible children's response is also worth reading. It's a complex situation. If ultimately Kony can be stopped, it'll be worth the efforts being made.
  15. Seems like a long way to travel to retrieve a bracelet.
  16. Um, that was mine. You have my mailing address, right? Also the gold bracelet.
  17. I can see the fascination, but...what a way to make a living!
  18. Too cute. Is Mikael taking hairstyling tips from Jeff now? Also love John's little cowlick. Michelle, I also thought it was "Brady Bunchesque"! If they had begun glancing around at each other.....
  19. Thanks for keeping us updated, Paul. Happy travels to you!
  20. Ashtray, you get somewhere safe...a deep solid basement? (You didn't happen to see 4 horsemen while you were out & about, did you?) (Was Jim Cantore riding?) The ferocity of these storms is horrifying. I live in serious earthquake country, but as horrible as those can be, I've always thought that tornados were more terrifying, if only for the sheer capriciousness of how they strike...one house might be completely demolished while the neighboring house is untouched. An earthquake is more evenhanded in its destruction. Please, be as careful as you can be. How long does "tornado season"
  21. A Lotti review paints an indelible picture, for sure. The only thing that could be better would be to have Lotti as a concertgoing companion! Though the "schnapps dose of fierce style" might interfere with the "comfort feelling in stomach pit" in us lesser mortals. Welfare right back at you, Lotti dearest.
