  1. I don't know why you're having this problem. Anybody else? Let me see what I can find out.
  2. Thank you! Straight onto the reading list! This looks fascinating! How is the writing?
  3. PopTodd beat me to saying it....that is a great story!!! I've never read any Ellroy. Where should I begin? I'm currently neglecting the very fine Jefferson bio, "American Sphinx", because my son loaned me a collection of Dave Barry columns, a book called "I'll Mature When I'm Dead". What can I say? Barry is funny! Jefferson, not so much.
  4. These all look pretty intriguing! I didn't like Hotel New Hampshire as much as some of his others. Still liked it a lot. And I agree with Fritz, A Widow for One Year was very good.
  5. No kidding! I didn't know he was married to her. Innaresting. I'm putting the short stories onto my reading list, along with 25th Hour.
  6. Orange. Alissa kept trying to steal it so I had to hurry up and eat it.
  7. No, I haven't...is it old enough that the library might have it? My book-buying budget is kaput.
  8. I got it a couple days ago. Fun little package of goodies! The clear pink vinyl is neat, very pale pink. And of course, fun music!
  9. Oh! Give credit where due, I hadn't realized that was a Jim Ford song. I love his songs.
  10. No, it isn't the Buckley song. That's Nick's own, called "36 Inches".
  11. Thank you. We try to be a board where all opinions can be expressed, so long as they aren't expressed in a way that viciously attacks or insults or baits another member. There's room for varying opinions, and yes, the discussion is interesting.
  12. Yippee, mine's on the way! I haven't had time to listen yet, all the way through, but I sampled the 3 songs and I liked what I heard....as usual, with the M's. You're right, that "The Right Man, for the Right Time (You're a Loser)" is terrific! Steve & Joey & Josh & Rob make some amazing music. Thanks for the tip-off on this!
  13. That's "36 Inches". How'd they handle the vocals on "I Love My Label"? Did Nick & Jeff trade off? You lucky stiffs! I knew they'd do that together eventually....and should've figured they'd do it in honor of Release Day!
  14. Maybe it'll prove to be a grower for you. I love it even more through headphones...all those layers and details to discover.
  15. Very nice setlist coming along here!
  16. Congratulations to a magnificent band on an astoundingly great album! YOU GUYS RAWK the planet! Happy Wilco Release Day to all the lucky fans here at Via Chicago & elsewhere! I trust you've all snapped up cd's and albums by now. Happy (rather loud) listening!
  17. Well, he isn't a doctor yet, just a doctoral candidate. But I know he'll complete it from here. Thanks!
  18. Thanks, everybody! I'm taking him out to dinner Thursday to celebrate.
  19. I think Nick was brilliant, as always, and I'm sure it was a total honor to Wilco to have this legendary musician sharing the stage with them. I thought that moment was one of the set's high points. But then I'm a Nick fan from way, way back.
