Ah, god, that's horrible, heat. My deepest sympathies to your sister, and hopes that nothing precious was lost, and that her insurance will cover the damages. She'll be in my thoughts and prayers. I hope her fortunes will take a turn for the better. She has had way more than her share of grief.

Good to know you were kidding, Ben. It can be hard to read tone online. -
I'm late to this party since I was off having a mini-vacation amongst the giant sequoias....but HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JEFF! I hope your day was beautiful and I hope the coming year will bring everything you wish for, you wishful thinker you. Thanks for everything you've given to your fans. Without you, we wouldn't even have Lotti! The music is pretty excellent too. Can't wait for TWL...feel free to stream it anytime....

This guy came through fine, thanks to his foresight. But seriously, I hope all you East Coasters are ok. Tell us how it all went. No serious damage, I hope.

Met this dude the day before yesterday, driving up to see the giant sequoias of Grant Grove in Sequoia Nat'l Park. He was in the road about 4 feet from my car, glaring and rattling his ass off. I chose to stay in the car.

From our Rules and Regulations: "Please also abide by the following common sense guidelines: Avoid being dismissive of other peoples' opinions. Try "I don't see it that way." instead of "That's bullsh*t!" or "I don't care for that band" rather than "That band sucks!" It's called civility." Perfectly fine to dislike something. Not okay to state categorically that something is crap simply because it is crap to you. Differing tastes keep the world interesting. How boring if we all had exactly the same tastes! -
Start a new thread if anyone wants to talk about "Almost". This one has become ridiculous and needs closing.
-
Ok, maybe Wilco. Everybody settle down.
-
Nobody has it. Not even Wilco.
-
You mean the word "than" rather than "then". Not to go all Grammar Police on you. I understand your sentiment. Sometimes the talkers choose the absolute worst moments to express themselves! Could you also include a line about people who insist on starting a clapalong on songs that just aren't clapalongable, and the beauty of which is covered up in the loud, ill-fitting clapping? I don't mean rockers where Jeff encourages clapping, and it fits and it's fun...I mean, clapping along with things like "She's A Jar" or "Reservations". What? But maybe it's just me. who doesn't like it. :shrug

Yeah I can listen to this over and over. I've mostly been listening to the terrific live versions from Solid Sound. Incredibly good.

Patience never has particularly been our strong suit here at Via Chicago.

Yeah, the ellipse in your username was what got it allowed as a different username. You might want to capitalize it as TheAshtraySays, to make it more distinctive from the other ashtray. And stop calling each other ellipses.

Oh shit, he's awake!
-
Yikes, healing vibes your way. Same to you with the plantar fascitis. Take it easy on yourselves and get well!
-
Now that is one terrific picture of Jeff. Great little video!

There was one in Colorado today too, the strongest in 40 years. It was a 5.3...I'm sure these quakes are totally unconnected, but still, it's kind of odd to be having quakes in areas that usually don't, as well as being on the same day!

Oh would you two get a room already.

Aman beat me to the punch...but only because I couldn't get the stupid board to multiquote! Where's the grumpy emoticon? A monkey will do.

That's one of my very favorite of JHamm's () Wilco videos! That'd be Bob Egan launching backwards into the snow.
-
This is a great Wilco story! I love how Jeff loves the kids in the audience..."raising up the next generation of Wilco fans", as he likes to say. I'm sure that was a nod to your pint sized person!

Justin & Sarah are great ages to bring to the next Solid Sound Festival, Michelle. Lots of kids come, and there is plenty to entertain them. Very very family friendly, and inexpensive as well! Plus you get to meet up with so many friends! There...I've planted the seeds of temptation...

Ok, I should've figured that this was Indian. I knew I'd heard of it before. It sounds really, really good. I wonder if I'll have to get the asafoetida and maybe the fenugreek from an online source? But if I search a bit I should be able to find it locally I think. How long do you fry the mustard? Just until aromatic? Oh, and the dried red chilis...is there a specific variety? See why they call me The Question Authority? (Actually nobody does that) Cue the Rocky theme! I'm impressed and I don't even know your age. I really admire the dedication and focus & self-discipline that go

The live shows were as good as legend has it. Damn they were fun. This album looks great!
