  1. Now that is one terrific picture of Jeff. Great little video!
  2. There was one in Colorado today too, the strongest in 40 years. It was a 5.3...I'm sure these quakes are totally unconnected, but still, it's kind of odd to be having quakes in areas that usually don't, as well as being on the same day!
  3. Oh would you two get a room already.
  4. Aman beat me to the punch...but only because I couldn't get the stupid board to multiquote! Where's the grumpy emoticon? A monkey will do.
  5. That's one of my very favorite of JHamm's () Wilco videos! That'd be Bob Egan launching backwards into the snow.
  6. This is a great Wilco story! I love how Jeff loves the kids in the audience..."raising up the next generation of Wilco fans", as he likes to say. I'm sure that was a nod to your pint sized person!
  7. Justin & Sarah are great ages to bring to the next Solid Sound Festival, Michelle. Lots of kids come, and there is plenty to entertain them. Very very family friendly, and inexpensive as well! Plus you get to meet up with so many friends! There...I've planted the seeds of temptation...
  8. Ok, I should've figured that this was Indian. I knew I'd heard of it before. It sounds really, really good. I wonder if I'll have to get the asafoetida and maybe the fenugreek from an online source? But if I search a bit I should be able to find it locally I think. How long do you fry the mustard? Just until aromatic? Oh, and the dried red chilis...is there a specific variety? See why they call me The Question Authority? (Actually nobody does that) Cue the Rocky theme! I'm impressed and I don't even know your age. I really admire the dedication and focus & self-discipline that go
  9. The live shows were as good as legend has it. Damn they were fun. This album looks great!
  10. Any chance you'd share that recipe with someone who loves both pickles and limes, hmm? (That would be me.) Sounds fabulous! Do you eat them as pickles or as a condiment? I'll bet those would be wonderful alongside grilled chicken. Congratulations! Let us know when it's finished.
  11. That sounds like heaven! We (my son Brennan & I) made it to one beach on our cross-country jaunt...Jenner, in Northern CA, where the Russian River meets the sea...a really gorgeous spot and it was a perfect day, with whales in view and sea lions lolling around at the mouth of the river. But other than that, it's been a beachless summer, which as you know is practically illegal in Southern CA! I'm noting your directions. We should have beautiful weather for the rest of August and probably most of September as well, so I think we can still fit in a beach day. Thanks for the tip! It sounds
  12. I love the way Jeff says/sings the word "almost" in that clip. It's perfect.
  13. Fantastic news, Dunja, and I'm sure it's much deserved! A big pay raise means more travel money! Yay for you!
  14. Anthony, I love that pier at San Clemente...it's a bit of a drive from Riverside, but worth it! I don't recognize the beach in your photo, is that in San Clemente too?
  15. I've just finished reading "Room" by Emma Donoghue (yes, I'm a couple years behind the curve). Fascinating to look at the world through the eyes of a child born into captivity, as Jaycee Dugard's 2 daughters were (children of a kidnap victim). I don't know if Dugard's story was the inspiration behind "Room", but it's a good read.
  16. I think we're all getting a little cranky waiting for our big little band's new album. Now that we've had a sample of "Almost" I think a sample of "Jane Smiley's Boyfriend" is in order, please Wilco.
  17. Uncool: Have you ever been to South Carlsbad beach? We like that one. Come to think of it, we need a beach outing ourselves. It's been awhile!
  18. Small is absolutely beautiful but if the world were to develop better musical taste than what currently makes virtual no-talents into megamillionaires (I won't name names....there are too many), it could only make for a smarter and more pleasant world. But yeah, I don't wanna share my Wilco too much, either. It's a bit like a favorite recipe that you don't want to give to just anybody...only those who'll truly appreciate it! So selfish of us.
  19. Wow, what a weird and atypical first show you got! I was there too. If the band had tossed that fool into the audience, I think we'd have happily torn the guy limb from limb. Or at least stretched his limbs painfully and then maybe seriously duct-taped him to a wall or something. What a total ass. Oh, and welcome to Via Chicago!
  20. Summer always races past like the roadrunner, so I thought I'd pause a moment to consider how it's been going. So far this summer I've taken a wild and exhilarating cross-country trip from California to Massachusetts (and Solid Sound!) and then back again, all without major disaster or serious injury. I didn't fall off the edge of the Grand Canyon or get too damned lost anywhere except maybe Kansas City at 3 a.m. (Nice police station they have right in downtown!) (No, we only admired it from the street) and we didn't meet any bears in any National Parks, although a ranger shot a tranquilizer d
  21. C'mon, c'mon September 27th already!!!
  22. The kids and I have been on an Arrested Development jag of late...Brennan & Alissa were young enough when it was new that it's all new to them. It doesn't seem to have aged a bit, in spite of having many political references. But then, does the world of politics ever really change, other than the faces? What a fabulous show, and so great to watch the kids rolling with laughter over Buster & the seal, Gob's magic, etc.
