Marking calendar...*Wilco jumble*
-
I'm a pretty passionate person myself...ask anyone who knows me well. But a person can be passionate without being immature, egotistical and insulting. "The mark of a mature person is the ability to disagree without being disagreeable." I love that quote although I can't remember the original author.

Let's all back off with the snarky sniping at one another and the egotistical, self-congratulatory assessments of each other's musical tastes as paling in contrast to our own. Pathetic. We like what we like, for reasons that sometimes cannot be put into words, nor need to be. A bit of live-and-let-live would be nice...this is supposed to be a community of fans, remember? So have your opinions, have your favorite Wilco eras, Wilco albums, Wilco songs, but please resist your "need" to trash the opinions of others. Myself, I like the Wilco music. I'm going to wait for the new album and then g

Smartass. "Wilco's eighth album won't be ready until September at the earliest, but the group will release a 7-inch single titled "I Might," backed, fittingly, by a cover of Nick Lowe's "I Love My Label" — the first release for their new imprint. It will be available at the band's Solid Sound Festival, taking place June 24-26 in North Adams, MA, with a wider release planned for July." How funny is this...Wilco doing "I Love My Label" in celebration of their new label! Wonderful, wonderful! Oh! Yes! I love my label and my label loves me For she's so good and kind together we will pave

Most Beautiful Songs that Break Your Heart
kidsmoke replied to sgtpepper64's topic in Someone Else's Song
Great topic! I won't make a list (too many!) but just name one that always gets to me; "City" by Mickey Jupp's Legend. -
Those are wonderful lyrics!

M.Chris, you rabble-rouser you! My thoughts on this Dawes commercial...I always thought "when my time comes" was a reference to one's time of death. So now Chevy Silverados make me contemplate my own mortality. Is this what the commercial-makers intended? Just saw a Chevy Silverado drive down my street. Do you people know how much a funeral costs these days??!!

I feel the same!

It must've felt like the world was ending. Those last few minutes...

Aw thanks, PopTodd. It was a really nice interview. At one point we were riding the escalator at LAX and Ian was talking about his young kids and how much he missed them, being on tour in the US. I was a step above him and looked back, and here's this cheeky, brazen "Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll" musician, with tears in his eyes. A big softie. Ian's spirit must be around the last couple of days. Today, looking for another album, I came across this album, which he "autographed" for me at that interview. He was having such fun naming each of his tour mates (Wreckless Eric, Elvis Cost

Stunning and horrifying. The sheer volume of water is almost incomprehensible.

WOW, Josh! A watermark doesn't bother me. It's a professional's protection.

That's well put, Morgan. I agree, each kind of show has its benefits!

Ah, I would absolutely love to see this! You've stirred up one of my fondest life memories. Years ago, already a huge fan, I got to interview Ian. I guess it must've been around the time of the release of New Boots and Panties...'77 or '78? I fell very hard for the man...he was so quick-witted and intelligent and disarmingly sweet! At one point, around others of his crew, he motioned to me and when I leaned over he whispered, in that fantastic cockney accent, "I fink you're smashing!" He'd picked up on the fact that I was feeling shy and overawed, and meant to relax me with the comment and the

That's adorable. Yes, welcome to Via Chicago, Dave. I thought your backup singing was nifty. -
Amen to that.

That was unbelievable. Thanks for sharing, it really provides perspective.

No, LeRoy left before that. It wasn't a factor. I know Jeff was really sad that LeRoy decided to leave the band, but it was the right decision for Leroy I guess. -

He just didn't want to do all the touring anymore. -

Damn but I love this song. Always have. -
What a horrible quote this is: "We are assuming that a meltdown has occurred" at a nuclear power reactor, Japan's chief Cabinet secretary says.
